[opensuse] USB problem

On my laptop I can read and write an USB memory stick without problems. On my PII desktop,both running 10.2, I am not able to see this memory stick. On a reboot, I did the booting with the stick still in the USB contact and found in the boot process a longer pause at the USB part, long enough to write down the contents ;). It starts with: A new full speed USB device using uhci-hcd and address 2. device descriptor read/64 error -110 device not accepting address 2, error -110 This is followed by the same info for addresses 3, 4 and 5. My scanner picks up the second USB address without problems. I have googled around and did find some solutions which worked for some but not for me, e.g. modprobe -r uhci-hcd and other. [opensuse] X11 configuration for SuSE 7.3

Hello opensuse(a)opensuse.org! I have been trying to configure X11 in SuSE 7.3 to get more than 256 colours in resolution 1024*768, but more colours are offered only with lower resolution. That resolution is enough, but I need definitely more colours. This linux runs on VMWare Workstation 6.0, where VMWare-tools are installed and configured. Could somebody help me to configure it? [opensuse] Suse 10.3 Updater errror

Hi, I have already installed opensuse 10.3 and its been working fine all along, updater advises me of any new updates and I apply them. However, now suddenly updater has stopped working. I get the message "Error: helper program returned: invalid xml" and no further updates are possible. I've checked the log files (both yast and zypper) however nothing obvious there. Also googled for any info on this and also nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Mates, For those that have not yet played with Compiz-fusion, I have grabbed a few screenshots of my laptop that show a few of the new features. I usually don't get that hyped up about desktops. I just want something that is clean, fast and that works. Compiz is something to get excited about. I has some new features that introduce a whole new way of doing things. Notice the active application is white opaque while the inactive widows are semi-transparent. [opensuse] One Click Install - associated helper application does not exist

Greetings, One click Install is failing whenever I try to install anything with the error being reported by Firefox: /tmp/whatever_I_try.ymp could not be opened because the helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences. What should the preferences be? I presume the preferences are the file association maintained personal desktop settings? Any assistance gratefully received.
