Yast2 problem

Hi there, I have a Suse10.1 upgraded from initially Suse10.0 box and a few days ago, I was doing a routine online update, when yast2 went mental. It started with sending me some messages saying that there was a symbol problem with libzpp and reading through the list I found what it seemed the solution with downgrading libzypp 2.13-15 to 1.1.0-1.11, but it didn't work, no only opens the main window and get's stuck on the please wait popup. Most of my yast2 rpms are 2.13.*, I am not sure which ones I should reinstall or downgraded or upgraded. Thanks in advance for your help and time. Jose

[opensuse] System Update "installation media incompatible"

I am trying to figure out why I can't run System Update any more (from YAST). It tells me: The installed product is not compatible with the product on the installation media My system is OpenSuSE 10.1 and my installation source is: http//download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/ I think the problem is related to this. In YAST / System Update / Update Options it tells me: "Update from Unknown to SUSE-Linux-10.1-FTP 10.1" Ahh HAH ... it thinks my system is "Unknown." How to install a package remote?

I need to install a package on a remote machine. This package would be on the DVD or on a suse server. One of the remote machines I can access via vnc, the other one only via ssh. How can I install this missing package? I guess I need first to make sure which installation CD I used (SuSE cd set/ dvd). Download this iso to the target machine, mount it via loopback, but than, what next? bye Ronald

I have two boxes one 9.2 and the other 10.0. Yeah, these are rpm coming from packman But, it's just that yast online update worked so fine before, just not complaining about those or offering a solution. zmd seems to worry about that, and throws error, without having to ability to solve it.... Logrotation for zmd?

Where is the log rotation scheme for zmd-messages.log set? I only see zmd-backend.log It's kindof annoying not to be able to set compression, how many files there should be before deletion etc. -- Anders Norrbring Norrbring Consulting

can not install any software now

Well, it appears I can't install anymore software. I just now tried to install gcc. I get the message: patch:glibc-1678.noarch has missing dependencies There are no alternative installed providers of glibc-devel == 2.4.31 for patch:glibc-1678-0.noarch conflict resolution keep glibc-devel delete glibc ignore this requirement just here If I choose to keep glibc-devel, it says: This would invalidate atom:glibc-devel... So it appears that glibc was updated but now I can't locate a compatible glibc-devel. I guess this all gets back to the issue that I can't add any new installation sources.
