[SLE] How to make SUSE detect a PCI card?

Hello everyone, I just changed my motherboard and I'm having problems detecting my soundcard on a specific slot. There are 3 PCI slots on this mobo. I want to place my soundcard on the slot farthest away from my AGP video-card because I do a lot of recording with the soundcard and I want to avoid any possible noise for being too close with video card. If I put my soundcard on the farthest slot, SUSE 10 won't detect it (If I do a lspci I won't see it). If I put my soundcard on the middle PCI slot it will detect it. Any idea on how to work around this? It could be an IRQ related issue.... Well... I've solved it... sort of. In the process of "debugging" the problem I had disabled just about everything in the BIOS that can be disabled and still boot the computer. No change. I had disabled everything I could in KDE (keyboard repeat, power management etc). No change. I had disabled every non-essential service. No change. Then I rolled back the kernel to the one provided on the 10.1 DVD... immediately everything is back to normal. I've re-enabled all the BIOS functionality, re-enabled all the system level stuff and all the KDE extras... and it's still working great! So what is wrong with the latest SMP kernel that causes: - a 1 second pause every 2 seconds when playing OpenGL games? - high speed keyboard repeats when typing in any application? - random hibernates - monitor blanking every 2 to 7 seconds of mouse/keyboard inactivity? (no exaggeration.. I timed it) I'd file a bug report if I knew what to file it on... or how to describe the problem... but I'm kinda lost here. Has anyone else who's using the newest SMP kernel from SUSE (via an online update) having any issues? [SLE] 10.1 Perl Cyradm Auth Mech Problem

Running Horde on OpenSUSE 10.1 and trying to run the cyradm command to change some mailbox quotas. I set the cyrus account password using "passwd cyrus" as root OK. I then tried to log in. [SLE] 10.1 box install forgets DVD or CD

I've (re)assembled an older system (Athlon 1800+/512M RAM, 30G hard drive) I had lying around to install SuSE 10.1 from the boxed set. I've added a DVD Rom drive and set the jumper as slave and hooked up to the correct plug on the IDE cable. The bios sees the DVD rom drive (but calls it a CD drive, hmmm) and I set it to boot before the hard drive. The system begins booting from the DVD just fine. It presents the first splash screen to choose boot from hard disk, or installlation, and the other installation options. After choosing Installation the linux kernel loads, and the next glitzy splash screen comes up (the Novell name subtly reflected and the rotating/fading circle of lights -- very pretty) and a few seconds later it switches to a text screen with a nasty message that it can't find CD1. Nothing I do at this point will make the DVD reappear. The option to eject the disc also doesn't work. For some reason the drive seems to have disappeared. After several iterations of the failure to install I tried doing the install from the CD instead of the DVD and I got the same result. Then I rechecked cables, reseated RAM and whatnot and tried again. Same results. So I figure maybe there's something wrong with the DVD ROM drive and I install a CD-ROM that was working fine in another computer. Same results again. Then I tried the Installation with SAFE options. Whaddya know, but that worked. Does anyone have an idea what option with the SAFE options fixes the installation's media drive forgetfulness? I figure it's probably going to have to be added to the finished grub boot options when this installation is finished. [SLE] Source RPMs do not appear in YaST software management ...

Hi, I'm still trying, unsuccessfully, to find those source rpms in the software management system! I now have the following repositories active: ftp://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/update/10.1 http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distributi… ftp://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distributio… dvd:/// http://packman.mirrors.skynet.be/pub/packman/suse/10.1 The first and last of those have refresh turned on, the others have it turned off. Still, when I go to YaST's software management, there is no source package available, e.g. for xemacs. The source package is certainly there on the server: http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distributi… Can anybody help me work out how to get the source packages to appear in YaST software management? Yes, but it requires a lot of work. You'd have to OCR the form, hope all lined up correctly and then re-pdf the form. An easier solution is to simply open the form in OOo or GIMP or whatever and add text blocks where you want them. You may need to save the form in either TIFF, JPEG, PNG or another suitble format first. [SLE] Rotating .mov video file

I have a quicktime video that I had no choice but to shoot in landscape mode with a Canon Powershot camera. I can rotate it when viewing with mplayer -vf rotate but I would like to save a rotated version. After googling extensively I have been experimenting with mencoder -vf rotate=1 -ovc copy -oac pcm, but the result is not rotated . Can anyone offer a bit of clever advice? Thanks. [SLE] transcode deps

[SLE] Zen messes up system.

I've noticed what appears to be a severe problem with Zen. On at least 4 or 5 occasions, on 3 different systems, after running an update, the desktop can no longer be started. Sax2 -r doesn't correct the problem and I've only been able to recover by reinstalling.
