huh? Trying to update evolution ....

Since I have been having issues with the version of evo that ships with SUSE10, I added the official gnome yast source (ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME/update_for_10.0/yast-s…) And then tried to updated evolution and components. However, I was told: gtkhtml2 not available: evolution requires gtkhtml2 >= 3.10.0- Yast showed gtkhtml2 (and older ver) installed, and a much newer ver (3.9.92-6) available. HUH? Trying to add evo from a source that does not have a dependency for the version it offers me? What gives? I went ahead and added (3.9.92-6) but ... still no go. And, I am confused that the dependency message is that "gtkhtml2 not available" -- well, yes, it is .... just too low a version, I guess. Now, what? Peter

SuSE 10.1 just went to Release Candidate 3 this weekend; if it is available in the retail channels by end of the May I will be surprised. Pre-Order! Oh yeh, right. As a member of the Novell Community, I pre-ordered SuSE 10.0 Retail from Novell directly late last year and had to wait over a month for delivery and Novell wouldn't even tell me when I might get it! It finally showed up on my doorstep in early December as I recall. However, I will endorse Amazon as being a good place to pre-order it as long as you are willing to wait and save some money, a little. Clint

Error with Yast2 module answering machine

Hi there! New to this list let me say "Hello" to everybody and bring forward my problem. To figure out if it is a bug or my fault here is what I have recognized: When starting the module answering_machine of Yast2 in console, I get the following error twice a time: Can't exec "ypcat": Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden (<--means "file or directory could not be found) at /usr/lib/YaST2/servers_non_y2/ag_nis line 83, <STDIN> line 1 (#1) (W exec) A system(), exec(), or piped open call could not execute the named program for the indicated reason. Typical reasons include: the permissions were wrong on the file, the file wasn't found in $ENV{PATH}, the executable in question was compiled for another architecture, or the #! line in a script points to an interpreter that can't be run for similar reasons. (Or maybe your system doesn't support #! at all.) I am using SuSE 10.0. So is there something I have done wrong or is it bug I could report? Greets Thomas

What's on vt10?

I've tried starting several desktops (some remote) and noticed something curious. The desktops start on vt7, then vt8 & vt9. But then for some reason, vt10 is skipped and the next desktop appears on vt11. When I switch to vt10, it appears as though it's being used for some status or error messages. Why is it here, instead of perhaps on vt6? tnx jk
