Help with error message installing on Notebook

I am installing Suse 10.1 and get through all the various settings. x server to use a specific ip with computer with many ip addresses

Hi can anybody clue me in here....? Imagine a machine with some real network cards (more than one), and fake (aliased) ip addresses, all work but having setup this I want to change the default x server's ip and use another instead having investigated sysconfig/googled it is easy to set up access control for x, but when i used the -from 1.2.3.4. command for xdm suse 9.2 decided to ignore it, gateway wise xdm choose the most direct route out hop wise. but an examination of /etc/X11 conf files seems to make seting x to use a specific ip address rather than another a troublesome affair. http://www.xfree86.org/current/Xserver.1.html#toc6 Can anybody point me to some wise hints since what i tried so far should work but somehow is being ignored Its not a security issue but it must be possible. Can anybody help/suggest/hint ? at what i'm failing to do here.

To recap, metalinks list mirrors, p2p, checksums, OS, and language information about files. This usually makes downloads more reliable, faster, and easier. aria2 (http://aria2.sourceforge.net/) is the command line client. wxDownload Fast (http://dfast.sourceforge.net/) has a GUI. metalink support is also being added to KGet. There are other clients for Windows and Mac. New metalinks are available at http://download.packages.ro/metalink/opensuse/ . Previous metalinks for openSUSE have been quite popular. I've also made these metalinks which list both i386 and x86_64 ISOs. http://www.metalinker.org/samples/openSUSE-development-latest.metalink http://www.metalinker.org/samples/openSUSE-development-latest-mini_iso.metal ink You would use these like: aria2c http://www.metalinker.org/samples/openSUSE-development-latest.metalink --metalink-os=Linux-x86 or aria2c http://www.metalinker.org/samples/openSUSE-development-latest.metalink --metalink-os=Linux-x64 Depending on which version you request, you'll get either arch from the same 'link. While this might not be practical right now (it's just as easy pointing to a separate link than using options on the command line), it could still be useful in the future when clients save your settings for OS, language, and location. Apache2 and serving directories underneath a symlink

For reasons best left unexplained (because they make my head hurt), I have a machine whose /opt directory tree is a symlink: /opt -> /otherdir/opt I need apache2 to serve files under the /opt tree (/opt/webapp/htdocs), and they need to be accessed by that path name, rather than their "real" path (/otherdir/opt/webapp/htdocs). When I try to open the site in a browser, I get a 403 "Denied" error. The log message that appears is this:

Hi! While creating a livecd based on OpenSuSE10.0, we get to a failure creating the compressed filesystem, using the livecd scripts at the novell forge. The problem is related to the block size that is used at the create_compressed_fs command. Actually, the livecd scripts did: create_compressed_fs $build_area/inner.iso 16384 > $build_area/outer/cloop.img And it did not work for us. However, if we change it to : create_compressed_fs $build_area/inner.iso 65536 > $build_area/outer/cloop.img and it works. XGL only works for root

Hi all, I'm trying xgl and compiz on my Acer TM802 (ATI Mobility 9200). All seems ok. As root I can logon into gnome and get all the effect. But, only as root. As ordinary user, the effects are not working. I've been googling around and it seems that there are other people who experience this but without clear solution. Can someone give some directions here? Much appreciated. [opensuse] removing abuse

For you, who do not know abuse, it is quite old, but great, fast arcade game. Problem is that this game is not developed for very long time and now it fail on x86-64. Whent testing this issue, i discovered that many parts of game crash (multiplayer for example). I want remove this package from openSUSE for good. I also want to heal this harm by putting some similar game in abuse "honest" place. I am open for any proposal. 1. Arcade type 2. Not openGL (abuse was also not openGL game) 3. [opensuse] disabing dri when i trying to remote xserver
