Hi I have the new Firefox 2.0 installed into my home folder. It feels nice. How can I make it available systemwide and inherit the plugins from the 1.5 I also have? 10.1 Cheers, Steve.

[opensuse] 10.2 release schedule questions

Hello, I have a few questions regarding the 10.2 release schedule. Will the RC1 also be available for download and testing? It appears the GM release on Nov. 30 will not be released on public ftp. Is this correct? Will the GM be availabe for purchase? Will the basic network installation structure be established by then so that autoyast installation files built against the RC1 release will work when pointed to a fresh Dec 7 ftp download? These questions will help me understand how valid internal software and configuration tests will be in comparison to the final release and how quickly one could deploy with confidence that what worked in the beta and RC images will continue to work in the final image. [opensuse] Anjuta 2.0 in 10.2

Hi everybody. Does anybody know if there's any possibility that Anjuta's 2.0 series would be included in SuSE 10.2 ??. If not, what others C++ IDEs (besides KDevelop) will be included?. Personally, I like Anjuta, Eclipse CDT and CodeBlocks very much, and may be you can try it and decide if they deserve to be included in 10.2.

GMail and SuSE E list

Ok, I just checked on this problem. Another suse-linux-e list user sent me a message telling me to post to the list because he was the only one seeing my posts. Until recently (I do not know exactly when, last 24 hours perhaps) when I press the reply to one of the messages that get filtered into my SLE list label the reply would be sent to the list automatically, now the reply button picks up the address of the last message poster. I have gone into my other labels for lists I suscribe to (ivtv driver, atrpms, mythtv) and on any message that I press reply to the address in the to field is the address of the list, not the last message sender. I am not sure what has happened, could it be that the SLE software has changed the header information ??????. John -- Registered Linux User 263680, get counted at http://counter.li.org

XP recognizes the hda drive, as a C drive, and Linux is also on some other partitions on this drive. But there are two more physical drives in the box, which BIOS can see, but XP can't. I'll try Linux on them, and see what I can do that way. It's goofy. (I've actually been running another version of Linux on another box, since with the Ethernet connection on this MOBO, Linux can't read the mail. Nothing's ever easy.)

Firefox 2.0 out

For those interested, FF 2.0 is now out. It was supposed to be out tomorrow, but for those who can't wait... http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/linux-i686… ...I'm downloading it now. I'm getting kind of tired of Opera, as it just doesn't do things the way I want. Hi Steve, either you repeat the installation process as root and enter /usr/local as the target directory or just move the $HOME/firefox directory to /usr/local. Don't forget to include the absolute path in your PATH environment variable. Been following the other "email" thread, and tried a script sig in Evolution...2.2.1 on SuSE 9.3 #!/bin/bash echo -e "----\n" echo -e "Tom in NM\n" echo -e "SuSE 9.3/Evolution \n" uptime echo -e "\n ====" Even with explicit new-lines as above, evolution ignores them, with the result as below. increasing DPI

Hi, all! Yesterday my mother bought me a 32" LG L3200T Flatron monitor. It's beautiful. i almost get whiplash turning my head to see both sides of it at once. The problem is, at 1600x1200 resolution (the highest it will go), i have a pitiful DPI, and text is really blurry. xdpyinfo | grep resolution resolution: 43x58 dots per inch eeek! i can only assume that lower resolutions will provide an even lower DPI. "The way i calculate it" (which might not be correct), i should be able to pump that up to 62 DPI, which would be a bit of an improvement. The problem is - i have no idea how to manually set the DPI. lost mouse cursor

Hi everyone. Switching from KDE to the text console and then back again loses my mouse cursor. I've tried rcxdm restart, dropping down to 2 then back to 5. . . The only way I can get the mouse back is by rebooting. I feel like a windoze user! Can anyone help me out of this embarrassing situation? OpenSuSE 10.1 x86-64 with nVidia 6100 Cheers and TIA Steve.
