Full versus update boxed sets

Hiya, anybody. I just received my first-ever SuSE Update box (9.3). Previously (since 5.2) I've always bought the full/new version of each release. This is my first time getting the "Update". Anyway, this one came with the two DVDs and five CDs, and the printed Administration Guide. So, is that it? The only difference between the full version and the update version is the printed User Guide? The price difference hardly seems worth it to Novell. You get all the important stuff, including the bulky and heavy (for shipping) Admin Guide, for just over half the price. Such a deal! Or am I overlooking something? MySQL data transfer

My machine with the database is broken. I need to transfer the data to another machine. How do I do that? Copy all the files of the data/ to the new machine, but how to be able to access them again? Before I had host localhost database abc user user1 password secret now the database in on host db ..... bye Ronald

YOU Update Emails

I run 9.1 on a box at work, 9.3 on my home box. Yesterday there was a YOU update for clamav and another package that I can't remember. On the work box (9.1), after applying the update I received a couple of emails to root advising me that certain config files were 'rpmnew'd'. On the home box, I received nothing, but a quick check reveals that those same config files were, in fact, 'rpmnew'd'. So, what's borked on my home box (9.3) that is preventing those very useful emails from being sent? I have no clue where to look, so some pointers would be most helpful. Thanks! Kaffeine/xine motion blur

Hello all, When watching home-made DVDs from my DV camera as the source, I see a lot of blurring in fast motion scenes. The DVDs look fine on a standard DVD player, but when xine or kaffeine tries to play it, I get a lot of motion blurs. I'm not sure if this is an deinterlacing issue or not. I managaed to get those lines to go away when I turned on deinterlacing :) Anyone else have a solution to this? -Khanh

possible bug in filesystem driver

Linux newbie freaking out. I received this warning while performing a 'find': WARNING: Hard link count is wrong for ./proc/1/task: this may be a bug in your filesystem driver. Automatically turning on find's -noleaf option. Earlier results may have failed to include directories that should have been searched. Can anyone tell a poor newbie what this means and what I should do about it? (running 9.3 on a refurbished HP with a Celeron processor). T. Daniel

Evolution

Greetings, I have decided to try Evolution, as it seems to handle meeting requests from ms clients better. Kmail always showed the request but never updates my calender, when I click accept to a meeting request. The question however is that it takes 10 times longer to download my mail with evolution than it does with Kmail. For example, Kmail takes a few seconds to download 2 MB of mail evolution takes about 4 minutes. Is there a logical explanation for this? TIA Chad
