Hi Does anyone have an idea on installing kde themes not .kth which you can install using the kde theme manager in control center. This is compressed as a tar.gz file and inside the gzip these are the files thats there. Folder "srokK" inside srokK there is stylesheet.css and another folder called images which has all the .png files and that is it. Gerald

Hi, A few days ago someone suggested (in reply to a query about genealogy apps for SuSE) that the person use "apt" to obtain the new version of Gramps. I found some excellent tutorials for the Advanced Package Tool - but, none of them mentioned how to find an application once apt is installed. I have downloaded the apt pre-reqs and edited the sources file, everything is there. Now, how do I find Gramps? apt-get install gramps tells me gramps can't be found - is there a directory listing of available rpms somewhere? TIA, 2AM

tg3 Drivers for Broadcom Network Cards on Dell 2650 and 6650 Servers.

Hello all, Has anyone had any recent issues with the tg3 driver on the hardware of either of these servers (all running various revisions of the 2.4 kernel). specifically with auto negotiation and crashes caused by it. Or is the bcm5700 driver still the better option? Alternatively am I better off ripping out the cards and sticking in something that uses the e1000 driver. Thanks, Ben

cups and lprng peacefully coexisting

I am replacing an lprng server with a suse box. since cups has become the print spooling system, and I am not sure about running the cups-lpd server -- (there seem to be a lot of limitations) has anyone run both cups and lprng simultaneously. I would use lprng to listen on port 515 for the lpr print requests, then pass it throught to cups. Or, would I be better of just using lprng and getting rid of cups. I notices with suses 9.1 that not having cups be the spooling system resulted in a very unstable kde print system, so I don't want to break something else buy removing cups. Getting K3b to recognize my dvd writer

I added a dvd r/w drive. I had to add the mount point and /etc/fstab entry myself. Now I want to burn some data to a dvd. K3b will not recognize it as a valid writing device. Here is my /etc/fstab table and mount points. cable modem

Hello List; My SuSE 9.1 thinks it is on a 56K dial up modem. It is really hooked up to Warner Cable's Road Runner service. Any suggestion on the best way to get the correct setup? The current modem is a Toshiba PCX 1000 and there is a Linksys cable DSL router between the box and the modem. Not married to either piece of equipment and could change if necessary. KSCD cdda not working in 9.3

I am still trying to track down why cdda does not work in 9.3. I am hoping some of you more programmer types can help. Here are the relevant config.log entries, followed with the results. Migration problems going from 9.2 to 9.3

Hi, Last night I migrated to 9.3 from 9.2. Due to the XServer crashing while trying to do the upgrade from the booting DVD, I had to use yast on the 9.2 system and choose the option "upgrade". During this I had no obvious problems. However afterwards /etc/issue nor was /etc/opt/kde..../kdmrc did not have the "9.2 string updated to "9.3". This by itself is not a big problem, but when I run online update the system still thinks that it is 9.2!! What do I need to change to tell the system that it is really 9.3 for YOU ? Thanks CPH
