iceauth, what is that?

I know that I have played around with things that I do not understand, I think I somewhere wanted to try out ICE but this project stopped in its infants. The remnants are something during starting X: iceauth : creating new authority file /home/cons/.ICEauthority The file itself is empty and deleting does not solve the problem because it is recreated every time again. After login out I also get two error messages complaining about ICE (forgot the text). Could somebody help me out with eradicating these remnants of ICE? Where should I look?

redirecting X to tty2

Hi: My minor numbers for /dev/tty[3-6] got corrupted (changed to 24 all of them) using ext3 and I am unable to use rm (rm -rf) to remove them and recreate them with mknod. So instead of fetching & compiling a new kernel I was wondering (I boot runlevel 5) if I could redirect my X server to tty2... Any ideas? Thanks, Raul

Samba PDC set-up with W2K clients

Hi, I am trying to set-up Samba as a PDC for a small network of W2K machines, without much success. I am running SuSE 7.2 with Samba 2.2.2 and W2K SP2 clients. I have read (and re-read) all the how-tos I can find, I have also spent most of the day searching the newsgroups, but I am getting stuck on the last step. When I change my network set-up in W2K from workgroup to domain, it asks for a password. All the docs say that I should enter 'root' here, but this gives me an error "login failure : unknown username or bad password" I have all the required user accounts including root set up in Samba, and I can successfully 'map a driver as...' each user. I have the machine account set up in Samba for each of the clients, and if I try to 'map a driver as...' a machine account samba responds with 'This is a machine account ...' error, so I believe these are set-up correctly. I had the same problem , do not use SuSEConfig. Thanks for all . I made a fresh install ,as i had no time to wait and try things, as I was trying to connect to remote m/c with ssh. i had too :-) Now everything works fine, learnt a great lesson, what to dod and what not to do. Suse 7.3. error installing php with imap support - apache

Hi all Hi all Can someone help me please I have a SuSe 7.3 installed... I've uninstalled the default apache and php rpms Then i started to compile my new php with IMAP support and then Apache So .../configure --with-imap --enable-track-vars --with-apache=../apache-1.3.22/ 1) First error the c-client is compiled with ssl so try with-imap-ssl ..oki lets go on ./configure --with-imap --enable-track-vars --with-apache=../apache-1.3.22/ --with-imap-ssl Then make Error -ldl -lmysqlclient -lcrypt -lcrypt -lresolv -lm -ldl -lnsl -lresolv -lcrypt /usr/i486-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lcrypto collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[1]: *** [libphp4.la] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/local/etc/php-4.1.0' make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 I've tryed it on 3 different SuSe 7.3 distribution installed on 3 different machines...and always i get that error Can someone solve it?
