installing IPtables

I am trying to get some kind of firewall up w/ 2.4.16 kernel. I have CONFIG_NETFILTER=y, but when I try "modprobe ip_tables" I get: /lib/modules/2.4.16/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_tables.o: unresolved symbol nf_unregister_sockopt /lib/modules/2.4.16/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_tables.o: unresolved symbol nf_register_sockopt if I grep /boot/System.map I see: c01b40b8 T nf_register_sockopt c02161c0 ? __kstrtab_nf_register_sockopt c0219b80 ? __ksymtab_nf_register_sockopt Does this say it is included? how do I create a mysql database?

I have data in text format files like date temperature telescope magnification etc etc. Can mysql read it in this form? How do I create a database from scratch that it can read? Can someone point me in the direction of some newbie guides on this? All the stuff on the web assumes rocket scientist level! Thanks, Steve.

Telnet Client

Hi all, I am running SuSE 7.1 Professional and am looking for a Telnet client capable of providing IBM 3270 terminal emulation (similar to IBM Personal Communications) so that users may connect to our CICS region from Linux. OT cadd programs

I had someone here at work that was sent email with an attachment drawn in autocadd. Not really knowing autocadd or an cadd program for that matter, I need to open it up an be able to print it out. Are any of the cadd program on the suse cd's capible of opening up autocadd drawings. thanks. jack

Jack, I ran into the same problem just the other day. I do have TurboCAD in WinNT but it wouldn't read the file. I searched the SuSE CDs and only found qcad. It will read a dxf file but not a dwg (native AutoCAD format) file. It will also read other formats but dxf is probably your best bet, if you can get the file in dxf format instead of dwg. VMware and registration number...help

I don't know how to install the reg number VMware gave me to test out the program that came with Suse 7.3. How do I do it??? (rant)Their support is, so far, really poor. (/rant) Thanks for the help!! Tom

I really don't have any recommendation about any specific brands (due to lack of knowledge :). The only thing you need is a reader for the type of memory card your camera has. i.e. my CoolPix 775 uses "CompactFlash" memory cards. The reader I bought is a SanDisk ImageMate which works great (it was about $23 at CompUSA). I'm rather tempted to do the same, because although my camera is supported by gphoto, it's fiddly business connecting up. Hi, a. I am 99% sure I installed the drivers for 7.3 but I'll check. b. Very new motherboard. My camera (Nikon CoolPix 750) wasn't supported by gphoto either. So I just went and bought a USB card reader which linux recognized as another storage device. I just mount this "drive" and I can then copy the pictures off to the hard drive. You can get card readers for about $20 or so. Hope that helps! I don't understand this mass storage driver thing - it appears to be some concept whereby the camera is made to look like a disk drive and can be accessed as such. I didn't go near that. I just went and got the latest gphoto2 code, followed the instructions, and it worked first time. I've looked on the gphoto list and your camera isn't listed as supported. Unless it's a different make which has been rebadged, you might be out of luck for the moment.
