Joe, Don't think I've got Port 68 open. Made a note of the other sugeestions Uptime has now been 3 days, 6 hr 19 min so far without a "stall". Regards, Keith B. Submitting contrib rpm packages

Hi everybody, I coded a simple utility to archive email messages... For learning purpose, I successfully tried to buil a rpm package for SuSE (7.2) (thank's to Bodo Bauer's detailed and clear explanations). Since my tool is (seems to be ;) stable and I think it could be useful, I'd like to know if it possible to submit it to SuSE as a contribution... if so, what should I do? Second question... is there any place where I can find a SuSE rpm for postfix's latest version (1.1.3)? Thank you very much. pcmcia and newer kernels

Hi, I reinstalled 7.3 ( new hard drive ) last week. I want to use a newer suse kernel than the one included on the dvd, I find my orinoco card hangs on large transfers and was wondering if a newer one would have updated source code. do I need to do anything extra apart from installing the suse kernel rpms. eg recompile pcmcia stuff. I ask, because up until now, I compiled pcmcia stuff by hand and never seemed to get the boot sequence working properly, ie nfs used to fail because pcmcia hadnt finished initialising. dids

My pet peeve java is keeping me busy again. It seems with every release SuSE fails to address the issues of creating an out of the box setup. I lived with konq for 4 months without java but time has come to change this. I noticed in 7.3 the java is actually meant to be in the PATH. PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/bin:/usr/lib/java/bin:/usr/games/bin:/usr/games:/opt/gnome/bin:/opt/kde2/bin:/opt/kde/bin:.:/opt/gnome/bin But I can't get Konq to get anything java related to function. Mozilla of course works fine with java and javascript. So I do a $ ls -l /usr/lib/java/bin lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Nov 29 08:46 java -> .java_wrapper Of course the file java_wrapper is not there. Typical. No worries I just try one of the 3 other java implementations suse delivers. ibm java2 or jdk1.1.8 or jdk1.3. Gateway Stalls Intermittently (LONG)

Hello All: I waited some time to post this because I use Comcast Cable and as you may recall that just went from @home to their own ISP @comcast.net. I am having trouble with intermittent stalling of my gateway box. Here's the information for that box: Running SuSE 7.2 Pro. 2 NIC cards (LNETX100 and RTL8139) set as eth0 and eth1, where eth0 is connected to the cable modem and uses dhcpd to get it's IP address and eth1 is connected to the home LAN and routes/ masquerades using iptables and SuSEfirewall2 v1.7. It has 128 megs of RAM in a AMD-K6-2 400 CPU and a 2.1 G HDD. Yes, I know I don't need it, but KDE is installed by default and only used when I want to use KMail. The system runs beautifully, doing what I set it up to do - route. But every now and again, it just stops and I have do the windoze thing reboot. I tried rcnetwork restart and rcroute restart to no avail. Only rebooting fixes it until the next time. Once, I left it overnight and the problem fixed itself. Tried that again, and it didn't. I do notice in tty1 that SuSEFirewall2 says it must run dhclient and it is turned on in the rc.config.firewall2, but dhclient ALWAYS fails at boot up. Any thought, suggestions? More info needed? Yes, I have WiinXP. My setup on hard disk (38GB total size): 1 x FAT32 for win95 boot (1.5gb) 1 x NTFS for WinXP Pro (30gb) 1 x 7Gb or so remaining unpartitioned at back of hard disk where I want to install Linux. Thanks to all the people that have responded. Art, I might go with your suggsestions using Bootmagic. At least I have backed up my Hard disk on a 2nd hard disk already. I have spent many a weekend reinstalling Win XP !
