[SLE] where is oss?

I have the boxed 6 cd set of SuSe 6.3 and I want to get the sound working. On page 261 of the manual, you are instructed to install oss or ossdemo of the series pay and neither is there. The package has been registered so it is fully functional. There are three options for print daemons included in the SuSE 6.4 distribution. I am wondering what the differences between them are. I anybody knows, I'd like it have a clue myself. I chose an Epson Stylus 800 before getting serious about Linux because I thought the colors were truer than Canon, especially red. It installs easily in Linux and the only thing I miss is the more complete interface available on W95. :-( FWIW, I tried refilling cartridges with bulk ink, which worked for about 4 cartridges, then the printer started producing very poor images. Have since used about 6 or 7 new cartridges and still do not have the original quality of the printer. I do save money, however, by using Amazon Imaging Inc cartridges from Warehouse.com and they worked very well until I messed with that bulk ink business. Friend of mine had exactly the same problem on his printer (not an Epson) with bulk inks. [SLE] RPM question Failed dependencies

Hello all, I have been using suse 6.1 and haven't felt the need to upgrade but then I wanted to install some rpm's and I keep getting failed dependencies. libc.so.6 needed and others I checked and I have those libraries in /lib/. I have checked all over the place to find an answer. expert exchange, suse suportdb, among others. What is the deal I would rather figure out the problem than just upgrade. Hello. I am in the process of looking at purchasing a new printer. The 2 printers I am looking at are the Canon BJC-6000 and the Epson Stylus Color 860. I am sort of preferring the Canon BJC-6000 due to the separate ink cartridges and I have always had better luck with Canon printers. I would really like to find out which one of the 2 is most Linux compatable. Or which is being most worked with to become compatable. [SLE] Kernel compilation problem

Dear friends, I am trying to optimize the Kernel 2.2.13 of the Suse 6.3 for a Cyrix 166PR+ processor (64 M of Ram). For now only the i386 Kernel is working. I follow the procedure make xconfig (selecting the right choice for the processor) make dep make clean make bzImage. When I start the last command I receive the following error and bzImage is aborted: init/main.c: In fuction 'start_kernel': init/main.c:490: 'memory_start' undeclared (first use in this fuction) init/main.c:490: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once init/main.c:490: for each function it appears in.) What can I do? [SLE] canvas7 printing

Hi everyone. Any canvas7 users able to help? I have canvas7 running on 6.4. It is excellent, especially being able to print true-type fronts wysiwyg. One small problem. I can only print as root. As a user It will not print. Anyone any ideas? Dear list..... (Notice the nice start) I am in need of some advice.... I am trying to figure out a way to take a specific date and convert it to the unix time. i.e.... 07/15/99 and convert that to the unix time for that specific date lets say at noon. I have pondered this... and am at a lose.... I am talking about the time that started 1/1/70... [SLE] kikbd problems in cyrillic

Hello, I can type in cyrillic in root, but I in user George , I can't. I open up a simple editor or console, and when I type on a key, nothing happens. No characters at all or typed. Strangley enough, in Star Office I can type just fine in cyrillic. Any ideas, as I have tried changing every font and setting in KDE. Things are just fine in root, so XF86Config is OK. Dear Friend, I'm using SuSE 6.3, and want to use apache with php.
