Hello, folks! I have just yesterday installed the dmsdos package that allows you to mount DoubleSpace (1/2), DriveSpace (3) and Stacker (3/4) partitions in Linux and after finally having read the right documentation fist (and consequently reinstalled the kernel half a dozen times ;)) it works beutifully, so I would like to see it integrated into S.u.S.E. Linux 5.3 for easier co-exsistance with Win95/98 and other Compressed DOS volumes. It's not much that needs to be done, and I guess RPM could take care of the patching? Then, an easy setup interface in YaST, and of couse filesystem loopback support on as default would pretty much do it! I installed the ApplixWare demo that came with SuSE 5.2 I installed the apxengdm package ("ApplixWare Office 4.3 Demo (English)") with YaST. So, where's the executable? I can't find an ELF binary anywhere in this install. Should I have installed the axdemo package instead? [S.u.S.E. Linux] NFS over FTP thru a WINGATE proxy

ok.. i have a BAD situation for a FTP install with any type of linux.. i need to do an FTP install .. but in my install disk there is only harddisk,CD-ROM, or NFS.. the closest one that i could use at this point ,due to lack of hard drive space, is NFS.. i was wondering if there was a way to do an FTP install "thru" a NFS type deal and also go thru a WINGATE 2.1 proxy.. if you people think that this is impossible, then please tell me and i will try something else (of course) if you think you even might have something for me to try or need more information put it on this list or mail me at chilini(a)inlink.com.. thanks Chilini - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo(a)suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

[SuSE Linux] Video Card P9100

Hi! I have SuSE 5.3 release, and my computer have a video card P9100. I configured X-Window by xf86config. Ok, because SuSE 5.3 support that video card. But always times that I run a "startx", my video stay in 240X320 resolution. Is there some special configuration or extra driver for that video card? So secondly i would like to say i'm concidering buying a new motherboard i found one for my amd K6 200 MHz by a brand "Gigabyte" I would like to know if this motherboard is compatiable or I would be wasting my money. SuSE has been much better and quicker in helping me solve installation problems. And, SuSE has been very stable and robust once my install problems were fixed. Hi There, I Had nothing but troubles from Redhat 5.1 even when I got RedHat 5.0 to work I had one problem or another pop up ever few days with configuration. I have used SlackWare, RH, adn Debian. S.u.S.e blew my mind, after hearing it mentioned around the place I decided to grab a copy and I have to say, IT BLEW ME AWAY. Not only was it easier to install (in my opinion) than RH but it did not sacrifice performance or features. It retains the usability for newer user with the use of RH with the RPM format but still packs the same punch of more powerful distributions such as Debian and Slakware which are leaner and meaner than RH. Mind you, I dont dis-lick RH, infact they are giving Linux a good name to the general public and I know more and more friends and collegues are talking about going to linux but in all honesty S.u.S.e has just soo many advantages and I feel that its installation is easier and more powerful that the RH pachages. I am a newbie. I just bought SUSE 5.2, its great, I installed it but I am having problems configuring my mouse in XF86Setup; none of the dev/?? seem to work. It is a Microsoft Serial Mouse 2.0A (they stop making them in 93 I believe.) Set at com 1. Second, how do I make a lilo bootdisk from linux.
