I'm lazy. In x I have root-tail running . But I doubt if this is what you are talking about :-) I know the slakware program ppp-setup does this ---as well...pipes a verbose type log unto the screen that pipes the process to the screen...and shows the dynamic ip assignment. Maybe try this program?? [S.u.S.E. Linux] HD problem or what?

Hi! I have a Seagate ST-31276A hard disk, and I run into problems when I'm trying to read from the last cylinder (I think) of my drive under linux. I have never encountered such problem under other OSes (like Win95). Is it a physical problem or I just did something wrong? Anyone had such problems? has anyone here been able to download "Webalizer" 1.00 ?? [S.u.S.E. Linux] ASCII Prints Landscape

I have installed my HP 5MP in YaST and, indeed, I have no trouble printing PostScript files. But ASCII comes out in landscape mode in a tiny print size. Under Red Hat I used to just do: $lpr text.txt and it worked fine. Do I have to do something different on SuSE 5.2? Hello: I recently upgraded from 5.1 to 5.2, and despite everything I've tried, I can't get my printers to work properly. I set them up (/dev/lp1 => HP Deskjet 500 and /dev/lp2 => epson) using YaST, but things don't work. If I issue the command (as root) "cat .bashrc > /dev/lp1" the file starts printing out in "stair-step" fashion, and hangs after a few lines. If I issue the command "lpr -Plp1 .bashrc", I get the following: "%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: # ]% (d84)name(0x81624d8#7) .... also printed in stair-step, which hangs the printer when the output gets to the .paper edge. If I issue the command (as root) "cat .bashrc > /dev/lp2", this little file prints out perfectly. However, if I issue the command "lpr -Plp4 .bashrc", I get the following error printout: "%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: # ]% ( d84 )name( 0x81624d8#7 )Execution stack at 0x815f9f8: " followed by a short dump of some memory locations. These printers work fine in DOS, and also worked fine under Version 5.1. I've tried to get SuSE Linux 5.2 to recognize my Adaptec 1502AE controller card via YaST (using the install SCSI modules feature of the installation disk), but no matter what settings I try for the 'aha152x' it says they are incorrect. Can someone with a similar setup suggest parameters to try here. I tried (among others) 'aha152x=0x340,9,7' to no avail. My scanner is default set to SCSI device #6, and I've never changed this. I tried using insmod to install the aha152x, but all it keeps saying is 'device is busy'. This is surprising, since nothing else (as in YaST for instance) seems to acknowledge the existence of the device. Installing the SCSI kernel for aha152x did nothing to help either. On boot up I get the message 'SCSI devices:0'. Using YaST off the hard drive to 'install new hardware' only gives me a nasty red message "no SCSI device detected", and offers no set-up at all (as in a suggestion to install a module...). >From Win95 I can see that the card is on IRQ 9, with an I/O range of 0140-015F. Works fine in Win95, but I'm trying to become MS free.
