Hi Jacob, Arrgghh! They are passing addresses of va_lists all over the place. Under ppc linux and s390 linux, va_list is actualy based on an array type. So they are trying to pass the address of the array (which itself is a pointer) and all hell breaks loose. They then assume the *args is a va_list argument everyplace. Passing addresses of a va_list is not portable in any way AFAIK. I have no idea if what I did even compiles but you should get the general idea. Just think that va_list is an array. Taking the address of an array makes no sense (you pass the array and it is automatically a pointer) and then taking the contents of that also can be an issue. Whereas passing the address of an element of the array is perfectly fine. I tried something using macros that may do the trick. Hope this helps. Varargs works different on SuSe PPC

Hi List I'm having a problem with a program called Kannel. I'm trying to compile it on my IBM 44P model 270 with SuSE 7.3 PPC installed. It compiles ok but when I run it I get a Segmentation Fault. After debugging it I found out that there is a difference in the way that va_arg works on different platforms. I've been told to try to update my glibc to the latest version but I have version 2.2.4-19, which I think is the latest. Then I've been told to try Darwin. As I've understood it's another compiler, right? Is there a ppc rpm for this? By the way, is there an ftp site where I can get the latest updates for SuSE Linux 7.3 PPC? Jacob

CD-ROM Icon [OT]

This is slightly off topic, but since I not a mac person at all (got a 7200/90 from someone), I am not sure if I did something wrong or not. This is probably a stupid question, but shouldn't there be a CD-ROM icon on the desktop when I am in MacOS? I am not very familiar with Mac at all. I had installed PPC 6.4, but recently got 7.3. I just wanted to reinstall using 7.3, but the CD-ROM icon does not show up. I have tried CD1 and CD2, and the CDs from the 6.4 distro, but I do not see the icon. I want to open it so that I can invoke bootx to do the install. The CD-ROM getting found, since I can see it in the "Silverlining" program that shows the SCSI devices. I had even bought another CD-ROM thinking my CD-ROM was bad...but same results. Am I totally missing something here? I had added some hard drives, but removed them thinking that may have caused it, but no. Does the CD-ROM have to be a specific SCSI ID? Hello, Does anyone know a good GUI imap-mail client for SuSEppc 7.1 Kmail does not accept Imap protocol (I regret it) Netscape well but I hate. Sylpheed is supposed to do Imap but does not do it. Is there a new sylpheed-ppc-version that manages Imap protocol. Thus ... Segmentation fault

Hi list I'm trying to compile an SMS gateway called kannel on an IBM RS/6000 44P model 270 running SuSe Linux PPC 7.3. It compiles but I get a Segmentation Fault when running it. Setting up serial Printer in SuSE 7.3

Hi, I am using SuSE 7.3 on a PowerMac G3., Kernel 2.4.12. I have a modem connected to the first serial port /dev/ttyS0 and a printer to the second serial port /dev/ttyS1. Unfortunately this second serial port is not recognized by YAST2 so I can not set up the printer because I can not choose the second serial port. Setting up the printer via YAST does also not work ( I choose the printer under yast, and the set the serial speed with the command stty 57600 raw -echo crtscts </dev/ttyS1 ). This procedure worked with SuSE 7.1 Does anybody have an idea ? Best regards Alfred

DSL with 7.3

Hello, Before getting into too many details, is anyone with a Mac G4 tower (400 MHz) that can show me how to setup an ethernet DSL connection? I just installed 7.3 and have DirectTV Broadband. But whatever I do I can't get the connection. The eth0 device keeps turning with an unknown error. I have a static IP address with static Gateway that connected to a broadband router. I tried the ADSL setup and also the ethercard setup but can't get the eth0 device to even startup. http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/snwint_bootparameter.html describes a problem where yast2 apparently gets confused and starts vga. If I have a twin turbo card, should I then say on the boot x11i=fbdev video=fbdev

LINUX PPC 7.3 G4 500DP Installation Help wanted

Hi: Is there anyone on this list who has successfully installed the Linux PPC 7.3 on a G4 Dual 500 ( Sept 2000 edition)? I am having problems installing it using the tips seen in the manual including the drag Linux boot to the linux boot partition, using alt+apple +O+ F boot up command line etc Monitor I am using is the E771 viewsonic Background: The software was installed on a StarMax 5000 250 with this same monitor but ended up using the Text interface because SaX2 failed. So I switched over to the G4 to see if I can get it to install satisfactorily. Help !! Ayudame!!
