TPM2 auf Leap 15.3

Hallo, mein Laptop läuft einwandfrei mit secure-boot und trusted-boot und hat auch einen TPM2-Chip eingebaut. Den würde ich gerne nutzen. Wenn ich ihn aber im BIOS aktiviere, startet der Rechner nach dem Boot-Menü nicht mit einer Fehlermeldung bzgl. tpm-error und dass der kernel zuerst gestartet werden müsse. Hat jemand schon TPM2 zum Laufen bekommen? Danke und Grüße, HAL

Update Repository (Debug)

When I try to update my new Leap 15.3 system by invoking "zypper patch" or "zypper up", the following warning message appears: Repository 'Update Repository (Debug)' appears to be outdated. Consider using a different mirror or server. For suppressing the warning message, I have inactivated this repository in yast. But I am looking for a better solution. On the site http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/, I did not find anything appropriate. Is there a better site available? And if so, what is its URL? Thank you in advance. System sounds in Enlightenment

To someone who's desktop is enlightenment. I can enjoy many multimedias on openSUSE 15.3 RC. audacious, mplayer, aplay, ffplay, mpd, vlc, xine, kodi.... But, I can't get any system sounds within the enlightenment, at all. It looks just like a PnP spec, so the developper told me that my pulseaudio is broken. I don't think so. In fact, I can enjoy multimedias. So, I'd like to ask the enlightenment user all. Are you getting the system sounds flawlessly? snapper config

I have Tumbleweed installed on a computer at home. I was planning on updating it. I do not want to take a chance with the /usr merge change, so I want to have a snapshot just in case. The strange thing is: snapper seems not to be configured. It is a full btrfs install with everything as the install defaults to. There is ample free space (> 100 GB). When I run snapper ls, I get: The config 'root' does not exist. Likely snapper is not configured. There is no /.snapshots dir, and there is nothing in /etc/snapper/configs. No idea why it is this way. How can I config snapper? I just want whatever the openSUSE install would have done. I googled a bit and the discussions are about where it seems snapper is set up (the files that I said do not exist do exist in the questions I have seen), but this complaint is made. I do not think that is my issue. As an aside, that's the 'drawback' of systems like SUSE where so much is done automatically. One no longer really knows the commands involved. It's not at all a complaint. Just an observation of how things have evolved. I used to know a lot more about what was happening under the hood. Hi, I have been using a Logitech Marble Mouse trackball and a Logitech optical mouse with Leap 15.2/KDE for quite a while. Trackball left-hand-mapping, and an optical mouse right-hand-mapping (one computer, two users) I left the the optical-mouse-setting as it came with the system, and added for the trackball the configuration below. SD card errors - what to do?

I've just had SD card errors for the first time and don't know what they mean exactly nor how to investigate further. The SD card was in a wildlife camera, which said there was an error. I thought it might have become full. I brought it back to my computer and put it in the card reader. Nothing shows up on screen (it normally opens a dialog box that offers to open my file manager when I insert an SD card). (Not quite) duplicate repositories?

Following the link to "openSUSE Build Service repositories" | http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/ I see many almost duplicate repositories in the list, differing in name only by the trailing : in its name. "connect: Network is unreachable"

Connected to the same router, there are two computers, called "se" (192.168.2.11) and "hp" (192.168.2.11) in my home network. Last Monday, I have installed Leap 15.3 on "se" and yesterday on "hp". Whereas "se" reaches any internet site, on "hp" some sites may reached and some not, in which case the error message "connect: Network is unreachable" appears. Both machines are connected to the same router by cable. Examples of sites I can reach: - https://www.google.de - https://en.wikipedia.org - https://dict.leo.org - https://elpais.com Examples of unreachable sites: - https://www.treccani.it - https://www.washingtonpost.com - https://www.dizionario.rai.it - http://www.ariannuccia.de (my own site) Thinking it is a firewall problem, I made sure that the firwall is switched off. LS, I keep getting the message " You need Gnome Color Management installed in order to calibrate devices" when I select Color Management in the System Setting under KDE. The thing is, colord as well as the gnome-color-manager are both installed. So, why does it not see the the latter program? Anybody experience with it? When I try to install a splash screen via "system settings / splash screen" I get an error: The installation of /tmp/KIbuMW-tranquil-1624535858364-3727.jpg failed, as the downloaded package does not contain any useful meta information, which means it is not a valid KPackage. Regards Mark

out of date certificates in caches

I just spent several days tracking down a problem on OpenSuSE 15.2 which I don't know who has the responsibility for reporting what failed, the operating system or the server/client applications. Anywise what happened was Certbot automatically updated some security certificates on one of my systems (Nova) and I wasn't aware of the consequences of it doing so. After that happened all of the sudden I lost the ability to connect to the services running on Nova. Autofs/Automount could not mount Samba shares from Nova, vncviewer could not connect to x11vnc service on Nova, ssh could not connect to sshd, knockd no longer opened ports, etc. None of the clients (except ssh but with a caveat) reported anything useful, just generalized crap like "No route to host" I hide a lot of the service's ports behind a port knock sequence which rendered the error messages from ssh invisible also. It was only when I directly opened the ssh port, on Nova, in firewalld and tried connecting that I finally learned what was going on. The cached certificates on my other systems were no longer valid and thus causing the failure. Only ssh actually offers a solution to the user to update the cached certificates with the new one from Nova. But again only if the server's port is not being handled by a portknocker. This was very difficult to track down and resolve! My question is, who should have the responsibility for detecting these out of date certificates, and offering a solution to the users when they are encountered? To my Object Oriented Design mind it seems the O.S. should have this responsibility and it should not be delegated to each individual client/server application. Maybe a distro is not the right place to start such a conversation, but I am only a poor user of OpenSuSE and not a member of any more centralized Linux group(s). After spending so much time tracking this down, I feel this is a deep design flaw in Linux itself but have no idea where to report it. logitech X230 speaker system

This may be off topic, but I don't know where else to ask. Started to relocate my logitech x230 speaker system, which consists of a big woofer to sit on the floor, and two tweeters that can sit on your table or hang on the wall. This particular system is no longer made, unfortunately, and it is truly wide-band audio. Problem: I discovered that the acoustic sound tube inside the woofer enclosure has come unglued from the plastic port entrance device, and I can't get the plastic thing off the enclosure so as to fish out the sound tube and glue it back on to the port device. The box is otherwise sealed up--apparently glued together--and I can't get the plastic port device off the box so as to glue the sound tube back onto it and put the thing back together. So, looking for advice as to how to get the port device loose from the box without breaking it! (I have tried very hard to slip a knife under the edge of it, but with only about 40% success. I tried heating the plastic port with a hair-dryer, but I'm afraid to get it too hot and melting it! If they had better glued the sound tube onto it before installing the assembly inside the box, this mail wouldn't be written! My old Epson Perfection 4870 Photo has a detachable plate in the lid which is white on one side and black on the other, but I'm sure this is accidental and was not intended as a helpful design feature. TinySSH & openSUSE 15.3 & WSL

Geetings, Has any of you managed to SSH from your LAN to a openSUSE 15.3 running on WSL & Windows 10 by any chance please? I followed what I could find on the net and this with openssh. No joy, many libraries missing. However, someone suggested TinySSH, a clean, simple, low ressources deamon. It would be great for admins to be able to ssh from their LAN to WSL. Thanks, Best, Jimmy

Leap 15.3, KDE and removable media

I do not seem to get removable media to work correctly on leap 15.3 They are configured as usual to ask the user what to do, However, when plugging them in, KDE does not respond. I can see the devices listed with lsscsi. But nothing happens. I'm not sure where to look for more info. journalctl only lists that the devices are now there. But nothing happens in KDE. Is there some other setting other than the one in the system configuration program under Removable Devices? It would help if I got a complaint somewhere. But I do not see anything. Other than the system log, I'm not sure where to look. There used to be an X log file in $HOME that listed whatever programs were saying. I do not see that file. Leap 15.3 samba-krb-printing removed from repo

Hi, We started testing Leap 15.3 and noticed samba-krb-printing is no longer a part of the offical repos. Yes we did decide to build it for ourselves in OBS but wondering why this was removed? This package is very useful for organisations in a Microsoft environment who have Linux desktops joined to a domain with Samba, they can print to a Windows Server shared printer seamlessly using their local kerberos ticket Thanks

Boot loader 15.3

My ThinkPad had been configured to have the boot loader on sda3. In updating to 15.3, I accidentally put it on the master boot record on sda. This has created a problem with updates to Windows 10, which I also have on that computer. The major updates will choke if the computer doesn't boot from the Windows partition, so I'd use fdisk to change booting from sda3 to sda1. It would then boot directly into Windows, allowing he update to continue. After my mistake in updating, I can no longer do that. I have used the Yast Boot Loader to move the boot loader to sda3, but the problem continues, no matter which partition I choose to boot from. Any idea how to fix this? tnx jk
