[opensuse] Driver for Samsung 2955DW printer problems

I have a Samsung 2955DW printer which worked under Leap 42-2. Under Leap 15 Yast tries to set up a driver but without success. The print test page under the setup never prints. Is their anyone on the list who is able to print using both Leap 15 and the 2955DW printer and if so how might get my printer to work? Has anyone here tried installing the lastest flac package and the latest doc for such? Ha! I am going to surprise the reader because I already know of a temporary solution to get phpMyAdmin to work, and I know that it is going to be part of the real solution, however it is going to get resolved. I just don't grok how to report it (it is a bug), I don't know what package has the responsibility for this issue, (phpMyAdmin or Mariadb) and the solution I have only works until the computer is rebooted. So I am going to need some real guidance here from a guru... In a nutshell, as currently packaged, phpMyAdmin will NOT come up and work on OpenSuSE Leap 15.0, out of the box, as described in so many LAMP articles posted around the internet, including the ones posted by/for OpenSuSE Leap 15.0. When MariaDB/MySQL is installed, it sets up a bunch of stuff, including an all important socket in the directory /var/lib/mysql. However, by default, phpMyAdmin appears to be expecting this stuff to be installed at /var/run/mysql. /var/run is a temporary directory that gets reconstructed each time the system is booted up. I can "fix" this by creating a link i.e. - ln -s /var/lib/mysql /var/run/mysql but this is only a temporary solution and gets wiped out on reboot. (I am still looking for a possible means of configuring phpMyAdmin with the knowledge it needs to find the MariaDB stuff.) And for the curious, if one tries to bring up phpMyAdmin without this link, one is going to get an absolutely horrid error message that has people all over the internet scratching around looking for a solution. The error is - "mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): No such file or directory" Yeah I have seen bad error messages before but the guy who came up with this dozy needs to be shot and retired from the software development game! And for a real brain twist take a look at the solutions/suggestions people are coming up with, that often do not work at all. In my case it took a hell of a lot of detective work to get as far as I have, but at least I found the &*$#&! problem! Now all I need is a good persistent solution and perhaps help with getting it reported in a way that the developers will comprehend. I vaguely remember coming up with a way to create a persistent directory in /var/run a couple years ago but not sure what I did nor if it is applicable to creating a persistent link instead. It went into /etc/HOSTNAME (or later /etc/hostname), as $hostname.$domainname 2. It possibly went into /etc/hosts if "Assign to loopback" was checked 3. As I already said in this thread SUSE strips domain part from value of /etc/hostname so this was completely useless (and absurd, first you add domain, then ignore it). In some bug report it was mentioned that resolver may use domain name from this file if no domain/search was set in resolv.conf. But that is covered by 3 anyway ... 2. This may potentially have impact on programs that expect hostname (meaning value of "uname -n") to be resolvable via gethostbyname, getaddrinfo or similar. As far as I understand, default was to not add this entry for years already and apparently nobody so far complained so it I doubt anyone will notice. 3. Well, you still have Domain Search field and are free to edit it. You just enter the same information explicitly that was added by YaST implicitly. [opensuse] Wordpress ignores formatting/CSS instructions on opensuse 15.0?

I've installed WordPress (latest version 5.1.1 from wordpress.org) on openSUSE 42.3 (apache 2.4.33, PHP 5.5.14) and it works (see http://paste.opensuse.org/53731595). The same WP version installed on openSUSE 15.0 (apache 2.4.33, php 7.2.5) works (kind of), because it seems to ignore all formatting(css?) instructions (see http://paste.opensuse.org/91325777). [opensuse] mailx: how can I force the correct encoding of an attachment?

Sending an email as attachment, type message/rfc822: mailx -r <me@home> -a afile.eml reci@pient </dev/null With an older mailx (Heirloom mailx 12.2 01/07/07), this is correctly attached, encoded as 7bit. With a newer mailx (Heirloom mailx 12.5 7/5/10), it is encoded as base64, which cannot be read by most email agents. (Thunderbird can't read it, mailparse doesn't parse it). According to rfc2045, it isn't even permitted.
