[opensuse] how can I control for variations of an rpm

Normally in yast you cannot see the history if not installed. I have to control before install for a patch (fixed bug) that was declared 6 month ago as solved. But I did not see the patch in the changelogs. Now I would check in the history of the current package. The package is trusted-grub. I asked the bug-owner but I think he is busy or did not see. Do not really want to bother further and check myself. Is there a way? [opensuse] Leap 15 install "bios_boot" partition?

Trying to install Leap 15 over prior partitions: # Leave rust disk with swap and /home alone # reformat and install onto old / # format new SSD as new /home I *thought* I had that set up via expert partitioner, but then I got the message "Missing device with size equal or bigger than 2 MiB and partition id bios_boot". Google handed me: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/533410-Warning-about-missing-bio… which seems spot on, but not *quite* helpful? I have the old /boot/efi partition, which I told the partitioner to leave alone, and at 500GB, it is more than big enough. The current 42.3 was the original SuSE install, so I have no recollection of how that partition got there (i.e. if SuSE said to have one, and I accpeted, or if that was there from Windows and I left it alone, having some notion that it was needed, or...?) Also, do I need to explicitly tell the partitioner to set /boot/efi as a mount point on that old partition? So, is it that I need to be fussier with the bios boot selection when telling it to boot from the USB drive (with Leap 15 ISO on it), and insist on "UEFI" or do I create some "Bios Boot" partition somewhere, or ignore it all? Unfortunately, I cannot affort do screw around with this reinstall, as it is on my main/only workstation machine. Lots of TIA. [opensuse] tumbleweed fails to boot hangs on initrd

So I ran the distribution upgrade for tumbleweed, the latest one being as of yesterday, Nov 30. It will not boot on the current kernel, which is 4.19.4-1. It also will not boot on kernel 4.19.2-1, the last upgrade a week ago, which is when this problem started. I was hoping that the new upgrade, which I did yesterday, would fix the problem, but it didn't. However, it will boot on kernel 4.18.15-1, and that is what I am on at the moment. Watching it boot, it hangs at around 30-35 seconds on the following line, right after it says "[ OK ] Reached target Initrd Root Device.": [** ]A start job is running for dev-disk-by\x2duuid-d3224276\x2d28fa\x2d44ad\x2db96e\x2dcd3d84fd2e6e.device (35s / 1min 30s) I think that device number is the device number for the initrd, because it does not show up on my device list when I run ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid. On either of the first 2 kernels, it hangs there and will not get past that line. It actually does not even create a boot log for the attempted boot, and there is seemingly no way to get around it. I was assuming it was the initrd, so I ran mkinitrd again, and rebooted, but it did not fix the problem. For now I have added a lock on kernel packages so that on my next upgrade I won't push out my one working kernel with tumbleweed. But other than that, I don't know what to do next. Hi ! *** Sorry, made a mistake in previous post, 5.6 version. *** For accounting system we need old MySQL 5.6, and NOT newer. Is it available anywhere in repositories (may be private) for Leap 15 ? [opensuse] nfsroot with Leap?

Hello, Did anyone configure a system to use a nfs root? If yes, how? I tried to build a initrd for nfsroot with dracut, but it alwys searches for a local root device at startup. [opensuse] FTP to a box

Hi, I wish to ftp "within the first seconds of boot" of a fritzbox router in order to check for the hw revision. Idea is, that, since EOL, a flash with openwrt is indicated and could revive the box. I am on leap15, which ftp program would allow this in the most appropriate and easy way? I guess it would be good to switch of the firewall or to use "trusted" zone for the eth when I do it. Did anybody do this in the past and could give some hint? [opensuse] 42.3: KDE on-screen clock 2 hours off

Hello, I have an OpenSUSE 42.3 system. now fully updated with zypper up. Network time sync is enabled. The timezone is Dublin. which should be GMT. If I open a Konsole window and run "date", I get the correct time (now 13:50 GMT) But the clock in the system tray is off by 2 hours, showing 11:50! I have right-clicked the clock and selected "Digital Clock Settings" and the timezone is correct, Dublin. I tried adding a Moscow rime zone, now on mouseover I get "GMT 11:50 MSK 14:50", even though actually it's GMT 13:50 MSK 16:50 - and the GMT in the command line is correct! How can I fix this?
