[opensuse] systemd restart

How does one restart systemd without rebooting the OS? I have some OSS machines that use Samba for AD integration. Whenever Samba is updated, libwinbind* all get updated. Prior to OSS 12.3, I could just restart services that used files that had been updated and everything was good. Now, however, systemd appears to use libwinbind* and I have no idea how to get systemd to use the new libwind. I cannot figure out how to restart systemd without a system reboot. Hi, I seem to be not able to get Gnus work with opensuseforums. Hi even though openSUSE 12.3 provides PostgreSQL 9.2.4 in it's repository, it only offers pgAdmin 1.14.x which complains to be outdated for PG 9.2.x. Even the packet search on the web page doesn't cough up pgAdmin 1.16.x. which isn't actually brand new. Hi, I have a fully patched [1] installation of OpenSuse 12.3. It was a clean install on a reformatted partition. [opensuse] How to stop KDE complaining about an unknown device?

Everytime I log in KDE pops up a message that it doesn't know what to do with the sound card. It asks if it should ignore this device and there is a checkbox that says "don't ask this question again". Even when I check this checkbox the message still comes up at login. As I don't need sound on this system I would rather disable this particular message completely. Hi I just installed an openSUSE 12.3 64Bit on an i5 box with 32GB RAM. Then I installed postgresql 9.2.4. The pg service starts with default config. As default it has only 24 MB shared_buffers. I need it way higher like 4 or even 8 GB. As soon I change those 24 MB to something higher PG won't start anymore. I had the same issue back with openSUSE 12.1 and it was solved when I switched from systemd back to sysvinit. How can I get more memory for PG on openSUSE 12.3 ? I am using XFS on a 12.1 system. The system records jpeg data to large files in real time. We have used XFS for this for a while since it has as a listed feature that it is well suited to writing streaming media data. We have used this for quite a while on openSUSE 11.2. We have developed a new version of this system that collects more data. What I have found is that the jpeg data is typically written at the speed I expect. Every once in a while, the write takes 100x longer. Instead of the expected 80 msecs or so to do the compress and write, it takes, say, 4 or 5 seconds. I have looked in all the usual suspect places, and nothing seems to point at anything. For one test, I wrote to /dev/null instead of the real file, The delays do not happen. They do seem to be related to actually writing to the physical disk. I expect some delay occasionally when disks are physically flushed. There is buffering in our application to allow this. But 5 seconds is simply wrong. So, I am curious if anyone has seen performance issues like this with XFS on openSUSE 12.1. Hello, On OpenSuSE 12.3, the contents of the variable RPCBIND_OPTIONS (defined in /etc/sysconfig/rpcbind) is completely ignored by the startup process. Is there a way to tell the service file (/usr/lib/systemd/system/rpcbind.service) to take the sysconfig file into consideration ? [opensuse] Why these dependency failures in KDE 4.10.4?

For the past several days+ I get these dependency failures after KDE was upgraded to 4.10.4. And as I check for updates/upgrades daily these failures are becoming a bit of a nuisance as well as a puzzlement because my expectation is that after all these days these failures would have been resolved.
