Follow-up I worked with AppArmor for a long time last night with no luck. Same problem when executing the mount from Truecrypt... You would think I would know this but alas... Is there a utility that comes with openSUSE that can be used to tell what type of RAM the computer has? Not the amount. [opensuse] Pam Pilot not working

Hi all, Next little niggle in my new 11.0 install. My palm device (actually a rather old Sony Clie running Palm OS 4.1) used to work under 10.3, but doesn't do diddly any more. If I try to add the pilot sync applet to the task bar thingy it can't see the device to configure itself. Even when I hit sync on the palm, there's no /dev/pilot device that pops into existance (which was one of the things I remember happening before?) [opensuse] openSuSE 11.0 enhancement to KDE Menu Style

As an administrator I have been asked to see if I can configure all users to use the KDE start menu rather than the SUSE menu. I know how to change it if done by the user. Right mouse click on the rascal in the bottom left corner and then left click on "Switch to KDE menu style". Can I in some way make this a system wide default, even if just for new users. I have figured out how to make a file go into the Autostart folder (via /etc/skel). I just can not find anything that would help me find a command or config option (/opt/kde3/share/config.kcfg /etc/opt/kde3....) that would let me set the menu style to KDE. I also have the desire to change the defaults for the screen saver to something just a little longer and less annoying. Have not begun that search yet but I bet the answer for that will be close to this one. I just have not 'seen the light' for KDE configs yet. I have been all over the opensuse site as well as the KDE site not to mention a day on Google searching. KDE does have an administrators area but it does not have much on configuring systems for groups of users. Any help would be greatly appreciated even if just a pointer to a Administrating KDE for dummies book! [opensuse] opensuse 11.1 + bzflag == problems

Hi! I've installed opensuse 11.1 rc (1/2?) updated from this morning (gmt 1). The desktop is a Gnome 2.24, and the bzflag game is the incorporated in this release. When I try to play to bzflag, all run fine... less the sound. No sound for this game, but yes for systems' sounds. I've included my user in all "pulse*" groups, but without any result. Anybody could help me, please? Thank you very much. [opensuse] Intel WiFiLink 5000 series on openSUSE 11.0

Hi everyone, I have an Intel WiFiLink 5100 Card in my computer, and I'd like to make use of it under openSUSE 11.0. Support for the iwl 5000 series has been added beginning with 2.6.26 kernel only, but OS 11.0 still uses the 2.6.18 kernel. Is there an easy way to get my Intel Wifi card running? Updating to the current 2.6.27.7 kernel brought me into trouble with my ATI HD 3650 video card where I would first need to find and install a new matching propriety kernel module, as the available rpm is also only for the 2.6.18 kernel. So I look for an easier way as a shortcut. I found hints about running the iwlwifi driver on older kernels under http://intellinuxwireless.org , but it seems that the released drivers there are too old for the new 5000 series (the drivers are dated Feb 2008, and only state the Intel 4965 card). Does anyone has some experience with the iwl 5000 card? [opensuse] clam-tk and repo for clamav definition(db) updates

Hi, Running OpenSuSE 11.0 with KDE and using clamav. Clamav uses the clam-tk package to display a GUI and I note that whenever I download something the window pops up, does its job BUT also tells me that the virus engine and GUI interface need updating. I searched on http://software.opensuse.org/search?baseproject=openSUSE%3A11.0&q= for both clam and clam-tk and whilst I found some results, I did not think they were the relevant ones. Can anyone provide me w repo I can add that will the openSuSE updater to advise me of new updates to either the definition db or GUI? [opensuse] syslog-ng not working as syslog host for external devices ...

following this: http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/18044.html I'm trying to get syslog-ng on a SLES server to accept incoming syslogging from external devices (an ADTRAN dsu/csu, and some cisco switches). However, the document says to exit /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.in and that file does not seem to exist on my SLES 10 SP2 box. So, I edited instead the file below. It does not appear that the ADTRAN unit has actually dumped anything to this server (which seems impossible) -- either that, or for whatever reason (because I have kludged up the conf file, perhaps??) syslog-ng just has not created any directories or accepted any logging. The firewall is off and I did make sure that syslog-ng is running. [opensuse] KMail Pictures Autodisplay

Is there a way to auto-display pictures in Kmail? Right now it arbitrarily will display them inline or not depending on the senders email client or the mime-type of the image (or something along those lines but generally for some senders it shows inline and for others not). I can click to show inline but it is annoying to do when you need to review many messages. I looked in the options and did not see anything.
