[opensuse] yast (gnome) and its windows

Am I wrong or is something with yast wrong? Normaly a application opens pop up windows (like status / progress bar) without taking focus if it's not having the focus before. At least running gnome I cannot do anything else while waiting for yast (e. g. "package selector"). Yast is stealing the focus. Try to play Minesweeper during... [opensuse] Eclipse hangs

Hello After a lot of works. I finally managed java to be usable on my laptop. But, there is still a problem I cannot solve. When I start Eclipse (the version installed by the RPM or the version I've dowloaded on the Eclipse Web Site), I can create new projects, I can open existing projects but I cannot load a java source file into the editor. As soon as I try this, Eclipse "freeze", which mean it does not react to any action. It even does not refresh it window. Waiting about 15 min does not help. The only solution I've found was to kill Eclipse. Did you experiment such a behaviour ? As previously indicated on opensuse[1] ml, my repository(repositories[2],[3]) now carry a 2.6.23.1 RPM. This also marks the EOL for my SUSE-10.2[2] line. While you will find 2.6.23.1-900.ccj57 in [2] and 2.6.23.1-900.ccj58 in [3], they are functionally equivalent. [opensuse] Suse 10.2 Installation Conflicts With Hdd- the installation hangs when kernel gets loaded

Hi all! I have got trouble while installing SuSE 10.2 on Fujitsu Siemens Scenic D, Celeron 800 MHz, RAM 256 MB, HDD Quantum FIREBALLlct 20 10 (10 GB). First installation CD boots normally with blue screen and options for selecting language, installation type etc. When choosing any of installation type the kernel starts to load and, when finished, screen becomes blank with the cursor blinking at upper left corner of the screen, and installation hangs. I found that this thing don't happens if I switch off the HDD in the BIOS. In this case kernel starts normally, but another thing happens then: YaST installer starts in text mode, saying that the PC have less then 96 MB of RAM or error starting X server, however the PC actually have 256 MB of RAM. I have tried another HDD with SuSE installation, Fujitsu MPG3102AT, and have got the same trouble. I have tried different Linux distributions on the PC, such as Knoppix and dyne:bolic Live CDs, and finally I installed Agnula Demudi distribution (Debian 3.1 based), and all of them run Ok. What can be the matter with SuSE 10.2 and HDD? One way to "skip" the error is to use 'smart --gui', and let it "mark" all the packages to be upgraded. When applying the upgrade fails, I use 'Hide unmarked' (in View) to just access the list of packages that make up the upgrade transaction. I then manually change those packages which caused the error to 'keep' (that is, I remove them from the marked list), and repeat the apply of the (now edited) "transaction". [opensuse] 10.3 problems

OK, moved from the 64bit 10.3 to 32bit 10.3, still have the same display issue. 01:00.0 VGA compa01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300] (rev a1) running NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.19-pkg1.run driver I have dual screens working, the laptop is a Dell Latitude D620, it's main display is 1440x900, the second display is either an Apple 23" cinema or Dell 20WFP, which have bigger display than 1440x900. xorg.conf attached If I try to maximize things in the bigger monitor they only get to be 1440x900, I can manually stretch windows to fill the screen. When the screen saver comes on it only covers the 1440x900, the panel if at the bottom of the screen is at the 900 pixel area not the actual bottom. this worked fine with 10.2. is there any hope on this list of getting help or should I be somewhere else? -- Todd Ness

You're not the first person to scan negatives, so I doubt that you need to do any coding...it's just a matter of finding what's already out there and written. [opensuse] Update on scanner..........

The Epson Perfection 4490 is an AWESOME scanner!! I had to reinstall to 10.3 32-bit from 64-bit due to the driver not willing to work with 64-bit, and took a slight performance hit because of it. There are 2 problems that SHOULDN'T be problems, as long as this driver has been out. They are: only 2400dpi is possible, when the scanner will do 4800x9600, and it won't scan negatives properly. Photos, line drawings or text, and of course transparencies - yes.....very well done. The driver should work properly. [opensuse] YaST Product Creator Issue

Good day! I created an AutoYaST and then generate an iso image using Product Creator. When I try tho install It shows: "Could not find the OpenSuSE Repository. Activating manual setup program." and then just "No repository found." Am I missing any step?
