How to exchance characters in a file

I have this odd file filled with the remains of a psion-file that was corrupted. It seems fields are delimites with a $ sign. Printing Contacts

Hi, I'm using SuSE 10.1 with KDE 3.5.1 and when I print the data of one contact, the header that contains the name is not printed, cause all the data is pushed up in the paper. Let exemplify: Name ... Mobile : ... Address: Work Address :... The Mobile label and all subsequent are printed, but the Name it's not; it's out of the paper margin. The funny thing is that if I immediately repeat the steps to print the same contact it comes ok, the Name is the paper. This also happened in SuSE 9.2. I must state that I'm using a HP LaserJet 5MP, a old and very well supported PS printer . Any ideas ? Lívio

Partitioning advice

I'm about to organize the hard drive on a new system and I'm looking for advice about partitioning it. The question is: which Linux partitions should be separated out from the root partition? Candidates are /boot, /usr, /var, /home (that one for sure), /tmp, and /usr/local. I can probably make pretty good guesses at the appropriate sizes by looking at my existing systems. I know this question has come up before but I haven't been able to retrieve the answers. Paul

how to add (successfully) an installation source to SuSE 10.1???

I am at the remote site of the server and started vnc. I start Yast Control center and add the new source media: http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-s… and move it to the first place. Than I try to "finish" that page. It does not close !!!! It is already one hour! SuSE 10.1 on AMD Athlon (64 bit) bye Ronald

Hey Guys, Just got a new laptop from work, a Dell Latitude 510, but I like to get dual monitor working, but it's either monitor or lcd on laptop. Also, anyone know how to get wireless working. How should I upgrade from Alpha3 to Alpha4 when it becomes availlable? Is an update via you/... possible/reasonable or should I do a complete re-install?
