I bought a Sansa Sandisk e250 (2gb) mp3 player, and I haven't been able to recognize it through its usb port. Does anyone know how I can get it to mount? -- Lunatic Asylum, n.: The place where optimism most flourishes.

[opensuse] thunderbird requires nscd ?

Why would thunderbird segfault just because nscd is not running? Turn off nscd and try launching thunderbird.

capturar la consola serie de otro server

Gente, esta vez vengo con algo un poco mas importante que unos caracteres mal dibujados.. la tarea serìa, porder capturar desde un linux, el output de la consola serie de otro linux, pero todo esto, sin instalar cu, kermit, etc. (esto es por un tema de licencias de una aplicaciòn de este server) hasta ahora, lo que intentè fuè, del syslog, redirigir todos los eventos a /dev/ttyS0, y del otro lado, ejecuto tail -f /dev/ttyS0 si, es casi primitiva la prueba, pero como no se me ocurriò nada mas inteligente, pregunto por si me pudiesen ayudar con algo mas serio Saludos!

" Ok seeing as how everyone thought it was hardware failure I decided to pull out a livecd of mepis that I know worked with my wireless. Inserted disc and booted and it worked right out of the gate. Automatically found my prism3 wireless usb and grab a ip from my router. I have ruled out hardware failure. Any other ideas?" ======= Yast Also lsmod to see if the kernel module (driver) is loaded /etc/sysconf for starters

Graphic card with native GL & 3D support in SuSE 10.1

Hello SuSE folkz, Could somebody please advise which graphic card has native GL and 3D out of the box support in SuSE 10.1 Unfortunately, I couldn't make my old nVidia GeForce2 MX 400 to work with SuSE 10.1 Many thanks in advance, Alex

" ========= So, instead of swapping out the card (or trying a different one) you assumed the OS was at fault. Maybe it just broke and you need different hardware. It does happen. Fred

Using USB with a serial connecting camera

Using Suse 9.3 and 10.1. I have two serial ports. Only one can be used and is connected with my modem. The other serial port is not working. I have recently bought an USB serial cable and now want to use that cable to make a connection with my camera. In Digikam my camera is included but there is no choice of USB, Serial it is. I could insert a camera port path. The camera mount path is grayed out. Is there a possibility to tell Digikam the the serial port path is "whatever" and symlink that port to the USB port from the cable. How do I find out the path to mount the USB?

Zen stopped working

After my last updates that mainly included amarok and other packages from Packman, now Zen gives me this on X startup... System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object in <0x003d6> Novell.Zenworks.Gui.ZenTrayIcon:CheckUpdatesLoop () in (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate:invoke_void () I tried updating via YaST2 after finding a couple of posts regarding the issues, but no help. I see a post regarding SMART, is this what is needed or is that for the initial updates issue after install, which were all applied and updates working for some time now until this issue. Can someone tell me what needs to be done in order to get the updater to work again? -- Robert

What repositories are good?

I'm new to SuSE Linux (10.1) but not to Linux itself. So, I'm looking for some good repositories to get current and bleeding edge versions of software. I have no problem dealing with any problems that may occur as a result of broken packages, etc. I am using Smart as my main updater. I have the following channels set up and I wonder if there are any others you might suggest? http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/10.1 http://packman.inode.at/suse/10.1 http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_10.1 http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-10.1/non-oss-inst-source ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/update/10.1/ Are there any other repositories that perhaps I could (or should) include?
