Been getting this message: "Your system requires the use of pthreads but the maximum system allowed stack size of 2052 kB may be too small for some games" this is with the evil Winex3.1. I know its just a warning, but I'd like to know how to increase the pthread stack size on SuSE 8.2, which I believe is using the Native Posix Threads Library instead of linuxthreads. Thanks, Matt

routing question

Hi, I have a small network setup but can't seem to get the routing right. I have tried reading the documentation, but its still not right. So I was wondering if anyone can provide some help. The server has 2 ethernet cards setup: eth0 (192.168.1.53) points to an adsl router 192.168.1.2, which in turn points to the outside world. eth1 (192.168.2.1) points to the internal network. I would like to have the internal network on eth1 route through eth0 to the outside world. Currently the routing table is configured as: 192.168.2.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth1 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.2 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 I know this is not right, as the 192.168.2.0 network can't see the 192.168.1.0 network. I thought that by virtue of the fact both cards were on the same machine it would be able to route packets between them, but i guess not. If anyone can point out what I have to do to achieve this I'd be grateful regards Jeff

Has the problem with the KDE 3.1.2 updates breaking yast2 been fixed without using the revert to former qt ben fixed ? If so where is the best place to get the updates ? I can use apt or download the rpms. More broadly do I really need KDE 3.1.2 at the moment ? thanks Mike

Serial port access under dosemu

I'm using SuSE 8.2. I installed dosemu 1.0.2 and everything seems OK, except I can access serial ports only as root. There is no access to serial ports as a normal user. How can I enable serial port access to normal users? Details: Control a device connected to the pc serial port com1(ttyS0). The pc software is DOS based. The user is in uucp group, so /dev/ttyS0 permissions is not an issue. Previously this box was running Debian with a plain dosemu install and there was no problem to access the serial ports as a normal user. cee

Greetings all, Please don't flame me too much if this has been asked already :-) I am moving all of our stuff from an older internal webserver running 7.3 to a spanking new server running 8.2 but I have hit a snag... g++ 3.3 we have a lot of cgi's written using cgic from Thomas Boutell (http://boutell.com/cgic) and they won't compile with g++ 3.3. So my questions are thus: Is it possible to get the source to g++ 2.95 and compile them somewhere nonstandard on my system? Will this cause any problems? Has anyone done this already and can offer me some tips? Rob

After numerious tries I cannot get phpMyAdmin to work. I always get the following message: "You have chosen to download a file of type: application/x-httpd-php from /srv/www/htdocs/phpMyadmin" and then asks me if I want to download the file "index.php" whenever I click on it. I have the following installed: (all of which were installed, deleted an reinstalled via yast2) mysql-3.23.55-14 phpMyAdmin-2.4.0-16 apache-1.3.27-41 Apache and mysql are runnung and I haven't added a password for root yet in mysql. Anyone have problems setting UDMA settings on Compaq Laptops?

Let's try this again. I cannot get the HDD in my laptop (Compaq Presario 3015US Toshiba MK6022GAX). This Drive is a 60GB 5400RPM UDMA5 drive. In Windows it sets to 5 fine but in Linux (I have recompiled the kernel with multiple different options. This is long but please read on and see if anything can be done.
