[solved] : tweaking/building NVIDIA from tar + Flightgear inputs

Thanks for the inputs and help offered, to all you good men. Solved my problem, although I could not believe my eyes. 1. My Via motherboard would run only on 1x AGP speed and would simply hang on other speeds [like 2x and 4x]. It has SDRAM and the board wouldn't allow even testing for 2/4x by the X server/nvidia module. So it works at 238 fps [glx gears] 2. I did "sh installer.run --extract-only" to get the tar file and then did a repeated "make install" for the tweaks that I made to os-registry.c. Dell Intel 810 video setup

I'm trying to setup Suse 8.1 on a Dell Dimension L800CXE with an Intel 810 video chip set. I'm having problems. Has anyone setup Suse on this system? I noticed during installation of Suse that the Intel chip set support was "experimental". In Sax, when Finalizing, I get an XServer error. Any help would be appreciated. Matt

Digital Camera

Trying to get my Agfa ephoto CL18 digital camera to work for the first time: I'm running SuSE 8.1 personal with k_athlon 2.4.19-66. I purposely used the usb port my scanner is connected to, because I know it works. - Tried to set up the camera in Yast - 'unable to initialize camera' - Tried to setup in gtkam - 'no camera detected' - Did dmesg - I couldn't find the camera there - Did cat /proc/bus/usb/devices - Not there either - Did cat /proc/scsi/scsi - nope - Tried to manually mount /dev/sda1 to /mnt/camera - '/dev/sda1 not a valid block device' - Also tried other devices (sdb, sdc...) - same results I googled and did a SDB search and found that my camera is supported (as evidenced in Yast and gtkam available camera selections). Found nothing definitive in my googling, short of rebuilding the kernel. I also did a search on the list and found a thread in February called [SLE] Digital Camera (second try). Followed this thread and tried everything in it that applied with exactly the same results this person had. It was never solved. Please help! I complained to one of our bench techs and he ran iometer against a SuSE 8.2 box. He ran iometer on RH boxes I think, definately not Macs. He found Samba to be 10x faster than NFS. I need ideas for Linux training course (OT)

Hi All! It is a nice coincidence that we have a headline "Indian president in favor of Linux". I have been approached by a training company in India to help develop course work for introductory Linux course (eventually advanced topics). In the first stage we will be developing a course for people who are moving up from Windows to Linux. That is, they have some basic computer knowledge (at least what is necessary to run Windows), so they need Linux-specifica. There are the obvious things like differences in commands/options, dual booting, SAMBA, and so forth. However, I would really appreaciate some brain storming ideas on what I could/should include. My partner tells me that India is pretty much "Microsoft country" and there are no companies that provide Linux training. This would be a great oppotunity to show IT people the power of Linux.
