No KDE access for root in user environment?

When I try to access anything as root using in konsole sux or a kdesu flag I can't get anything but the root konsole to execute (konsole as super user). One web slow, other faster - network errors

I'm running two Ethernet cards on my SuSE 8.0 server. It seems that one network is getting a lot more errors than the other causing some slowdown. The errors on my 78.53 address is acceptable, but the error rate on the 78.54 address is an awful lot higher. I'm running a website using SuSE 8.0, Apache 2 & MySQL Anyone know of any FAQ's they could point me to or some things to look at to determine the problem? File comparison

Hello list. Is there a neat way to compare my disk for identical files with different names? (eg. copies of pictures with different filename) I have a /&%-load of pictures from a digicam that uses running numbers as filename. I have copies of those pics with "ordinary names" and i want to find out where they are and what their original names is. The utility would be even nicer if you could find ANY copies regardles of type. asus A7V333-X and networkcard

I have this asus motherboard but I can't get the network card to work What can I do? How? SuSE finds a networkcard 'broadcom' but it does not work. Can anybody tell me more? thanks. Kees Bergwerf

Is there any file-descriptor limit in 2.4 kernels?

Hi all. I have been looking for information on google, but I did not find anything about this question. I have found the old limit of 255 fdfor 2.0 kernels, the 1024 one for 2.2 kernel, but none for the 2.4 kernel. I have been digging into /proc without finding anything. Anyone knows that answer? ADSL + SUSE 8.1

Hello I've got following problem. I wanted to install ADSL (t-online austria) using the YAST2 DSL module. When I start the communication I get as a last message: Sending PADI. Waiting for PADO. Plese check your configuration. I tried to find some docu about it, but I found only suggestions to install pptp and use it for this purpose. When I wanted to install it complained about the ppp version in suse. Could you please tell me how I can solve the problem or where to find an information how to solve it. Thank you very much Ivo

CUPSD dies with SIGSEGV

Hi there, Just installed SuSE 8.1 to replace my old 7.3 (and finally got rid of Win98SE) However, cups daemon won't start, dies with a Segmentation fault. Is this due to a glibc mismatch? Anybody out there have the same problem? Is there a workaround (apart from rebuilding it from source)? Hi All, Does anyone know of a GPL web application that allows people to add the names of software tools to a list with a short review/rating ? We're trying to work out which desktop linux tools everyone uses and the best thing would be for everyone to enter their own favourties (via a web page) and score them.
