Depends on what programs you intend to run. If you just want to run MS office and, I undrstand Quicken now, you can also use Crossover office. It is about $20. Some more sophisticated programs may require Win4lin. Whenevr I am using Netscape7, I get a pop up at the Linux task bar asking me whether I want to save the page using Konqueror, or send it as a page or open page, etc. This specially happens when I select the webaddress in Netscape. TIA Leo

How do I get Gnome in my login panel??

What NIC do I have?

I want to build a new kernel from scratch. (A new experience for me.) When I run make xconfig, I get lots of NIC choices. I don't want to enable them all. How can I tell which NIC driver I need. I can currently boot into the standard SuSE 8.0 kernel with no problem, so I'm hoping there is a tool which will tell which driver is being used. I am considering purchasing SuSE Linux Pro-Office and am wondering if the included Star Office 6.0 is able to display antialiased fonts Like Open Office or Koffice. Also, on Sun's Website Star 0ffice 6.0 is offered for a considerably higher price. Is the suite in SuSE Linux Pro-Office the full Star Office 6.0 Suite? I'm trying to make a logfile with the timestamp at the end of the file when it was made. Example file name: process_log.30Aug21:03:07 The next time the file is made the name of the file would be the same except for the current date and time. Jay

audiocd:/

Hi, I have RW and DVD units and in order to use them for "burning on the fly", the scsi emulation is activated for both. But then I cannot access the CD information trough audiocd:/ (i guess it depends on the IDE). Is there a way to configure KDE to recognize the audiocd keeping the scsi emulation? Or there is a way to avoid the scsi emulation for the dvd without lost? Thanks for your answer, list! Jorge de la Vega

2 issues fou4s -i -f vnc.rpm did not work for me i tried glibc-2.2.2-64.i386.rpm and i got this at the end MD5 sum OK: ae04855b1588512ba0e7aecdf96a161e gpg: Signature made Mon Aug 12 10:48:46 2002 EDT using DSA key ID 9C800ACA gpg: Can't check signature: public key not found If you only got 'MD5 sum OK: ...' as result, then the package is not signed!
