Hi, But you should install the so_en.rpm package instead of the so_de.rpm to get the english version. c++_compiler & configuring Quanta 3

Hi All, Trying to compile Quanta3 with the source from quanta.sourceforge.net, I completed the various dependency hurdles to get things ./configure 'd, but can't get past the complaint that it needs c++_compiler. A search of the packages on CD from YaST2 returns a 'not found' on this string. Hoping to be useful, I ran another search on c++ and installed all the packages returned by the search, thinking that would do it. It didn't. What obvious point am I missing? For some reason nothing I've compiled before has complained about this. Thanks all Fergus

Hi, Notice when the computer freezes, and check if you can find any error messages in /var/log/messages related to that time. That might help you locate the cause of the problem. I installed vsftpd on SuSE 8.0 via apt-get install. It doesn't appear in the Yast runlevel editor. I seem to have all the required directories. How do I get it running? Thanks, Steve.

formatting raid 0 system with ext2

One of my 2 pc is composed by an Abit Kr7a 133 raid 133. I installed 2 Maxtor 60 gb on HPT 372 raid ide controller. I created a raid 0 system. I tried to install Win XP and everything works. When instead I try to format ext2 partition it fails! It does not metter if the hd's are in raid or not. It depends only on the fact they are plugged to raid controller. when i plug them on the normal ide controller the operation succeeds. I try to format both using Suse installation dvd and by Partition Magic 6 from inside Win XP. In both cases it can only format swap partition. Mobo Bios is a modded one with a version of HPT controller bios supporting linux. Now I'm trying to flash it again with the last abit version that comprehends it too. Can anyone help me to use raid 0 with linux? THNX Blackimp

Recording Real Audio streams?

Hopefully someone can help me. I'm trying to use vsound to record audio from NPR's All Things Considered. I never have time to listen to the show live and in its entirety, so I want to download it nightly and listen to it the next day. Problem is, there are no downloadable archives, unless you use Audible.com, which is Windows only. So I'm trying to use vsound to record the streams off of NPR's site in concert with real player. Problem is that the streams are in .smil format. The streamed archives are broken into chunks and when it moves on to the next chunk on the show it resets the output file. Has anyone tried anything like this and does anyone have an idea how to do this? Preston
