[SLE] partition table

This newsgroup has been very helpful in the past. This problem probably should be sent to a dos newsgroup but being a SuSE user since 5.2 perhaps you can help. I have SuSE 6.3 on my new computer. I have this problem on my old computer 1. When I boot from the HD, I get this message: Operating System not found 2. Booting with a rescue floppy I get: invalid drive in search path invalid drive specification a:\> fdisk error reading disk a:\> msd does not detect c: drive a:\> scandisk does not detect c: drive a:\> defrag does not detect c: drive 3. Using Partition Magic: DISK 1-- 0 MB (can't create a partition) 4. Boot with AT&T rescue disk: Run diagnostics: "Your hard drive does not appear to be partitioned" Partition now <y - n> n -- cannot proceed a:\> 5. I guess the partition table is messed up in dos but why does linux recognize the partitions? [SLE] crontab with NIS, gone for weekend

Ok, I havn't quite figured this out, but, I have my systems configured with NIS/NFS, but since the users don't actually exist on the workstations except thru the NIS passwd file how exactly would crontab work? Would the crontabs be deleted when ever the workstation is disconnected from the server? What are your opinions? Also, if I have the crontab set up on the server side and the user makes an entry on the workstation side, would it overide the server side? Has anyone successfully managed to push the crontabs via NIS? or is the user forced to set up crontabs on every workstation he uses? PS. [SLE] Apsfilter

Hi! I sent a post to this list about how my whole installation was trashed by updating from Suse's ftp site. I'm still pissed about that. I have had to reinstall 6.4 and it's too much trouble to install the XFree 86 version 4.0 and True Type fonts for my TNT2 card. I have a minimal installation now and when I use the command lpr to print the file prints on either my HP LaserJet 6MP or my HP DeskJet 890cxi with no trouble. When I try to print from a webpage on Netscape I get a an endless series of pages with one or two lines of garbage. You know, I have been having this trouble since 5.3. At least this time I did get a mail message that says, "apsfilter: unable to print job stdin" Will someone please explain to me why using the print button on the Netscape GUI sends the file to standard input? And also please tell me how to make this program operate the way it's supposed to operate. I have uninstalled aspfilter, then reinstalled the program to no avail. Same problem. I have been fighting this for two years; I have read everything about printing under Unix/Linux I can lay my hands on and have written to this list before. All help is appreciated. [SLE] Modules

Hi, what is the standard location for the loading of modules on SuSE Linux? If I look at Slackware for example, there is this /etc/rc.d/rc.modules, where all modules to be loaded are listed. On my SuSE-box, I do a lsmod, I see some modules like ne2k-pci, but I can't find where they are loaded.
