[SLE] lpr only prints tiny

Dear List, When I try to print ascii text files the type comes out very tiny (as when printing two pages on one sheet). I can't figure out how to make it print normally. I suspect apsfilter. Printing to lpr -Praw or echoing to /dev/lp0 renders normal type. Printing .html files or man pages works fine. I've looked in apsfilterrc and a2ps-site.cfg, but I don't find any clues. I've tried to configure apsfilter from both yast and SETUP. I've tried reinstalling the aps package. And still tiny, tiny, tiny. This problem began after I was messing around with html2ps and piping to lpr (which I now know was unnecessary. [SLE] X-server Xwin32 stopped working

anyone have a clue why an x-server on my pc might just stop responding to a broadcast method. [SLE] Sendmail help

Hello, I am trying to get sendmail set up on my server, it says that it is running, but I must have set up something wrong, every time mail is sent to the server it is returned to the sender with the following error: A message that you sent could not be delivered to all of its recipients. The following address(es) failed: Rob(a)ncc-a.net: (rob is a user on the system) forced failure: nouser User Unknown Can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks. Hi, How can I delete the "Have a lot of fun" banner? I tried looking up in /etc/profile and couldn't find it. I don't like this greeting. I just want to be simple nothing. [SLE] Cracklin' Sounds

I've installed OSS in my SuSE 6.2 box and it plays sounds just fine. However, when I play MP3's (slow 56k connection), I get these crackling noises. When I have Netscape running (after clicking on Lo-fi playfrom MP3.com) and I toggle Netscape's scroll bar on the right, the crackling noises seems to disappear. Is there any configuration change that I need to make to get rid of these noises? [SLE] Multi-port JetDirect

Not necessarioly SuSE related, but a common problem I guess: I've browsed the woeful HP documentation on the JetDirect stuff and can't find any details on how to print to ports other than the default on a multi-port JetDirect print server. My best guess is that the HD was partitioned using some sort of LBA mode or disk translation software to get past the 1024 cyl limit in dos. Since it seems the software translation is gone that makes the bios unable to find the system, linux however supports most (all?) of these translation schemes and thus it is able to read the drive and partition table. It won't matter much to linux so if that's all you are going to run you might as well change the fat partition to ext2 or swap :-). If you want dos to be able to read it you will have to do the following. Back up anything you want saved since it will be gone by the end. Boot the rescue system and run fdisk (m will always give you the list of options) Delete your current partitions. Switch to expert mode: x Now you can use c and h to change the disk geometry to match what the bios reports so dos can see it. You can now add your partitions back or change them however you like, just beware that your cylinders are going to be about 500K each instead of 1Meg. Also note that for fat16 partitions, you are probably better off with two 210 Meg partitions rather than one 420 Meg. Make sure that dos (or whatever) can now read/modify your partitions and install away. If not you can always use the rescue system to put it back the way it was, you did save the old partition table right ;-) The downside: You now have more than 1024 cylinders which can cause problems with lilo if you don't make sure to keep the kernel under that limit. So you will need the latest lilo that doesn't have this limitation, make a /boot partition within the first 1024 cylinders or boot from floppy. Oh yeah, dos won't be able to see those last few cylinders either. Write back if you get stuck.
