[SLE] SMTP rewrite service (OT)

L.S. Well I have registred my own domain, have a free DNS service for it, but nowhere to point the MX records but my own dialup link. That's not gonna work. I do have a static IP though. Does anyone of you now of a free / lowcost smtp rewrite or store and forward (with ETRN) service?? That would make my day today. just put "/usr/X11R6/bin/xfsft" in /etc/rc.d/boot.local. [SLE] Zip utilities

Does anyone know of any Zip drive utility that runs under X11? I've tried JaZip and GTKZip but I couldn't compile anyone of this, allways there was some library missing and with GTKZip it had a GTKLib problem. Is there any RPM prepared for Suse of any of these two softs? [SLE] Adobe Reader annoyance

Well, I downloaded the rpm on the SuSE site of the new Adobe Reader. I now have a working plugin, but everytime I open a pdf file I get this damned screen ADOBE SYSTEMS INCORPORATED ELECTRONIC END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR ADOBE ACROBAT READER yada yada yada..... It's a minor annoyance, but I would like to know if anyone knows how to make this go away. Thanks -- Kenneth R. [SLE] Mapping Linux Drive under Win NT or 98

I need to map a drive on the Suse Linux box I have set up from my Win NT/98 box so I can view some files that are automatically FTP'd to the linux box. What is the process on doing this? What permissions do I need to have set on the linux end? Help! [SLE] Newbie question: how do you change the group of a DOS partition.

I would like to try to telnet (or ssh, if I could set it up) so that I could access it at school, but I'm also allowing friends to check the place out (they have no write access except for the HOME directory). But I ran to a problem because I don't want my friends to see most (but not all) of my mounted DOS partition. Does anyone have any idea how to change the group of files mounted as a DOS partition? I don't want to add myself to the group root because this could be a source to breech my system. [SLE] Three simple questions from newbie :)

Here are my questions. 1) When I installed the system, I installed a lot of different programs like StarOffice and ... etc. However, I don't know the command to invoke them and don't know where they go. Is there somewhere or some utilities that can tell me this? In windows, any program you installed will showed up in the "Programs" menu in "Start" menu. I know Linux is different so how can I find out what program is available to me and how to invoke them. 2) If I installed some programs I download from the web. Do I have to login as root to install it? If yes, after I install them, will the regular users be able to use them? If further setting need to be set for regular users to use them, what is the step to do it? 3) I always get a warning that "/dev/dsp No such device". What does it mean and what should I do to get rid of it? What will it affect my system because I do not really see how it is affecting me running any programs but it just keep coming up. Hi Sean, I forgot to mention its 800 tape insider. I'd connected to FDC. Once i connected to i was able to mount my floppy disk drive. [SLE] proto-network question

Still a "poor" question. My SuSE6.1/2.2.14 desktop works sometimes as a ftp-server for my company W98 laptop, so I can upload files from SuSE. I configured through YaST my 3com, assigned a IP (192.168.0.1) and everything went fine (my laptop was configured as 192.168.0.2): ping and ftp good. Then I upgraded YaST and all the update rpm available for 6.1. (Now I have no details because now I'm at work while the SuSE is at home). Self-ping is ok but ping towards the laptop (configured as 192.168.0.2) fails. Of course any ftp fails. More it seems from the screen that YaST doesn't see the 3com as recognized. (yet the older version worked). Is there the possibility that changing YaST ore updating some package has modified something?
