I suggest consulting the HD experts...PowerQuest (www.powerquest.com). They have a ton of products...I think Partition Magic might have the capability to fix the partition table. [SLE] Video Problems with SuSE 6.3

I recently upgraded from SuSE 6.2 to 6.3, and have been experiencing some problems related to video. (I first performed an upgrade install then a fresh install). The problems are: Viewed in Netscape mostly). The text curser only displays a couple of dots. It's there, but barely visible. When logging out of KDE, I get vertical bands rather than the change of intensity of the background. In StarOffice I also get the bands when moving windows. SAX hangs the system when I go into the configuration panel, before I actually configure the modes. My hardware is: Pentium II 233 w/128MB SDRAM. 2 NICs 1 Soundblaster AWE 64. 1 Advansys SCSI w/Cd-ROM and JAZ. 3 IDE drives. Logitech Marble PS/2 mouse on PS/Aux port. Video Board is an ATI Xpert@work AGP 4MB (mach 64). Monitor is:Digital FR-PCXBV-KA. I have double checked the settings in XF86Config against the specs for the monitor as well as the XF86Config.eg and and XF86Config built on my Alpha which is running Red Hat 6.1. I have played with the font paths, reloaded X and the fonts. XF86Setup also gives me garbage, but does not hang. I have run SAX in run level 1. My kernel is modular (2.2.13) with 686 instruction set and software floating point disabled. This used to work under 6.2. I have applied all the relevant patches from the SuSE update site. One thing I have not tried is to put in another video board. I have an Expert98 8MB PCI, but I am out of IRQs. I might try pulling out one of the NICS. This is really strange since I prefer SuSE to Red Hat, but I might install Red Hat 6.1 just to see if it works. [SLE] Question about compiling KDE apps on Suse 6.3

Hi! I tried compiling a KDE app under my freshly installed SuSE 6.3. I installed using Yast2 and everything seemed fine. Now when I try to compile KCommander for example, here is the error I get (See >> below). Since I did not recompile the KDE libs and QT myself, I'm wondering what I've done wrong. Has anyone had the same problem? Can anyone help me? [SLE] Setting up SPICE & SPICECAD in SuSE 6.3

I tried installing both SPICE and SPICECAD from the SuSE 6.3 cd. There were no errors, but I don't think I have every thing set up correctly. SPICE runs, but doesn't produce any graphs from the *.cir files. I tried running "nutmeg" but can't find that either. I understand SPICECAD is supposed to be grahpical shell for SPICE, but so far I haven't been able to get thAt to run either. Would someone please send me the procedure for installing and setting up these two programs? [SLE] Trakker 120MB Parallel Port Tape Drive...

Greetings! I'm trying to get my SuSE 6.3 Linux Box to work with my Trakker 120MB parallel-port tape drive. The version of ftape that comes with the SuSE kernel is an older version (3.27?) that implements a QIC117 interface on bootup, but doesn't find the drive and doesn't give an option to specify the parallel-port rather than floppy drive interface. The 2.1 kernel patch from Ftape 4.02 doesn't seem to work when it's applied to the 2.2.13 kernel, and compliling Ftape 4.02 bombs out with an error message in the low-level device driver. I read all the regular How-Tos and FAQs for getting Ftape 4.02 and the Trakker to work. Any ideas? Thanks!
