[S.u.S.E. Linux] deskjet 850c

Hi All! I've been searching around the manuals and the net to find out how to make my HP Deskjet 850c work the way it should. I've been able to make it print in 300x300, but it's supposed to print in 600x600 b/w and 300x300 in color. I don't think I'm the only one using this printer and I would really appreciate some help in this matter. I'm using 5.1 at the moment, but I'm thinking of upgrading to 5.2 if that can solve my problems. Have a great day! Here's an interesting one. i'm still a way newbian...i like the automation of 5.2....the autodetect..xwindows....etc the PPP is stilll a monster for me...ie, all the params...what are the modem initss???(i put MODEM=/dev/ttyS1...(to init it out of plain ole' dev/modem...? ..and onbootup it tells me there are no such files as: /tmp/suse_ppp$$$..or...tmp/suse_ppp$$$/diald do i need diald for ppp? and if so how do i get the diald properties to show up??? i'm ok...#vic#..AKA#FrAcTeL23# -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo(a)suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Everything that makes noise in linux from mp3 players to cds to midi to games like Doom and Quake have always worked fine for me, no problems. However, the audio in xmame only works if I boot from loadlin. It uses /dev/dsp, as I'm sure other apps do. Every other noise maker on my box works from a lilo boot, but not xmame. Obviously from a loadlin boot something is getting configured that isapnp must not be setting up, but what, and why only that one app?
