Hi all, Sorry about the complete lack of clarity and explanation on the marketing hackfest idea. Most of you knew we would do it - but what/how/when/where was unclear. Let me attempt to clarify: As you'll be at oSC anyway, adding a few hotel nights for a meeting is easy! We can get some work done, in preparation for the next openSUSE release for example; or on folders, flyers and other artwork; or on the ambassador program; and of course have some MORE fun... It will happen the two days after the conf, 15 and 16 of September. The meeting needs: hotel nights for all of the participants; a meeting room; and FUN! The fun comes by itself and the meeting room will be at the openSUSE office. The hotel nights work like this: I pay. As in, EVERY participant, if you had sponsorship for the conference or not, can send me the bill and I will reimburse 2 nights like we did for the conf sponsorship: up to the cheapest reasonable option which is about 45 euro a night, I believe. So you have to fill in a form, attach the receipts, SUSE will then pay the receipt value up to 90 euro. Let me know if you have any questions (or corrections)... Jos

This is for AJ : "My sincere apologies for a private posting but it was inadvertently done. " Actually I was proposing that online survey would help us in developing long term strategies but if we can take direct feedback from people who atend the openSUSE conference 2011 it can help us to know in which way to proceed to attract more people towards openSUSE and it can also form a reference point for further enhancement of future Conference and talk programmes.. [opensuse-marketing] Geecko on Google+?

Hello peers! Because of the situation, that Google+ doesn´t allow companies and projects to be part of G+ so far, we might could though be part of it. *The idea* openSUSE´s (and SUSE´s as well) mascot is Geecko. Why not creating a profile for Geecko and let him spread the word out about our project until Google allows companies and projects to join in? We also could do this with Dister, the SUSE Studio mascot if necessary. *Why?* Google+ seems to become a very important platform and it´s included in so much websites so far, so I think, we will have fun with Google+ a very long time. Due to the issue, that Google doesn´t allow us to join in as a project, we have to promote openSUSE over our personal accounts. This might work as well, but it seems a bit unprofessional. So, let Geecko to the work. The crowd will accept it as a marketing gag. *Who?* That´s the question! I´m looking at Bryen for doing it. Just a friendly reminder about our Marketing Team's 12.1 Hackfest scheduled for September 15 and 16. The event will be live in Nuremberg at the SUSE offices and accessible online via IRC as well. For those of you who plan to go, please add your name to http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:12.1_Marketing_Hackfest I know some of you are still working on travel arrangements before adding your name, but as soon as you know, please do add your name. [opensuse-marketing] Planning to throw an event.

The rush to do things for Free Software Day got me thinking. I wanted to throw an event like a dance party akin to a rave to promote and celebrate FOSS and Linux. What do you think, and do you have any ability to help? This event would happen in Riverside California USA.
