Apologies for the cross posting, but I want to be sure to get as many interested parties involved possible I'm volunteering to co-ordinate an openSUSE stand at FOSDEM this February I have to confess to being a FOSDEM beginner, but I know enough that I'm getting myself involved in a big thing, and I'm going to need help. Even if you're not coming this year, I especially welcome advice and guidance from FOSDEM veterans. What worked in previous years? what do I need to know? what do I need to avoid? To have a stand, we need to have our proposal in by 12th December. For both days, FOSDEM can provide either one or two 1m80 x 80cm tables, with 2 chairs per table. We'll need at least 2 people to man the stand, though the more the merrier, and the less time we'll each have to spend working the stand. As it's a big event my plan is to ask for 2 tables, but I need to have an idea of how many of you will be willing to help make our presence at FOSDEM felt So if you're coming to FOSDEM, and would like to help out, please either reply to me directly or ideally to the opensuse-marketing mailing list If any of you who work in NUE are coming to FOSDEM, please let me know, we might need your help to ferry goodies and stuff from SUSE offices to save on shipping. Hellou all!!! Here in Greece there two big magazines about Linux and Open Source. One of these is called "Linux Inside" which there are always one or two, two-pages articles about openSUSE written by the Greek Community and especially by Kostas Koudaras (warlordfff) and Stathis Agrapidis (efagra). The other one is called deltahacker and it is newborn! In the second issue of the magazine the editor in chief sent the greek openSUSE community an e-mail telling us that he wanted an one-page poster from the greek community in order to be included in the magazine. Hey folks, Just wanted to quickly update you all in mid-stride. Our release campaign is still going strong, although its a bit quieted down now in the evening. But so far, today has looked great on several fronts. We're seeing a lot of tweets nd retweets on Twitter. Many thanks to Izabel Valverde for stepping in to help with the cotweet today, even while balancing her time for LinuxCon-Brazil. Great job! Roger Luedecke is also giving focus for us on Google Plus. He's going to start peppering updates to our account there with news articles happening around the world. On Facebook, I've been keeping an eye on our Facebook accounts (and believe me there are MANY!) which was surprisingly time-consuming. Throughout the day, I have peppered articles onto the various pages and groups there. And by the way, our Facebook Group.... AWESOME! We've seen an increase of about 300 new members to that group in the last few days. And it seems to keep growing. Many thanks to all who clicked to approve new members. Speaking of articles, we are listing as many articles as we can find into http://en.opensuse.org/In_the_press. Please add more articles (even in different languages!!) to this page. And for all who are doing social media stuff, please mention these articles to your accounts. Believe me, journalists will appreciate that we spread traffic to their articles and will remember it for future articles. I've not been able to monitor Identi.ca or LinkedIn. Has anyone been following/monitoring those and if so, are you adding good stuff to them? Let me know whom you are so I can properly give you our thanks. One more thing I want to mention. We need to keep openSUSE strong in the social networking world for the next few days through to the weekend. Not everyone is reading social networking stuff today and we want to catch the weekend enthusiasts and get them turned on to downloading and cheering for openSUSE. Thanks to all! Wir sind gespannt auf eure Beiträge! -------------------------------------------------------- Gesucht: "Kernige" Beiträge für Chemnitzer Linux-Tage 2012 Referenten und "Open Source"-Projekte können sich für Vorträge bis zum 5. Januar bewerben Das nicht-kommerzielle Betriebssystem Linux feiert in diesem Jahr seinen 20. Geburtstag. Anfangs wurde es von vielen Skeptikern belächelt, heute ist es fester Bestandteil des digitalen Alltags. Es gibt kaum eine Aufgabe, der Linux nicht gewachsen ist - ob im Handy oder auf dem Server im Unternehmen nebenan. Technische Neuentwicklungen, aber auch die Schnelligkeit, mit der diese auf den Markt drängen, stellen jedoch Software-Entwickler immer wieder vor neue Herausforderungen. Die ständig steigende Vielfalt des offenen Betriebssystems und das permanente Wachsen der Open-Source-Community verlangen zunehmend nach Synergieeffekten. Der Leitgedanke der Linux Tage 2012 richtet sich vor allem an Referenten, die sowohl einen kurzen Blick in die Vergangenheit werfen, als auch über ihre Visionen für zukünftige freie Betriebssysteme philosophieren möchten. Die Errungenschaften der Open-Source-Softwareentwicklung sollen hier ebenso Beachtung finden wie Kritikpunkte. Es wird Raum für Diskussionen und Informationen über die Ursprünge und weitreichenden gesellschaftlichen Auswirkungen von Linux geben. Auch Synergieeffekte bei der freien Softwareentwicklung sollen eine große Rolle spielen. Das Team der Chemnitzer Linux-Tage möchte den Nutzern und Entwicklern unterschiedlicher Open-Source-Software eine Plattform bieten, auf der sie sich über die Zusammenarbeit austauschen und neue Akzente im Hinblick auf die Arbeitsorganisation setzen können. Hierbei soll auch der technische Aspekt nicht verloren gehen. Gerade der alltägliche Umgang mit mobilen Geräten und deren ständige Weiterentwicklung führen zu immer neuen Software-Anforderungen. Bei diesem Prozess werden unter Umständen auch längst verworfene Ideen und Gedanken wieder aufgegriffen, erneuert und umgesetzt. Die plattformübergreifende Programmierung gewinnt in diesem Zusammenhang an Bedeutung und kann ebenfalls in Vorträgen und Workshops thematisch aufgegriffen werden. Bagaimana dana tsb bertubi2 masuk ke rekening kita? Lihat SCAN BUKU TABUNGAN Rina terlampir. Lumayan banget utk ukuran rina. Uang segitu mungkin udah cukup utk beli rumah and mobil. Rina yakin kita semua bisa kok mendapatkan income seperti yg Rina dapatkan di atas. Begitu saya cek, di kolom kredit isinya 50 ribu dan 10 ribu banyak sekali dan di kolom saldo tercetak angka 160 juta lebih dan jika ditambah dengan buku ke 2 totalnya ada 250 juta sekian. Sontak saya kaget, ini duit begitu banyak dari mana? Setelah berpikir keras dan melihat angka 50 ribu dan 10 ribu baru saya teringat program 5 milyar yg saya pernah gabung dulu karena waktu gabung saya juga mentransfer 50 ribu dan 10 ribu ke beberapa orang. Aduh maaak, terima kasih Tuhan, terima kasih webmaster. Saya bisa kuliahkan anak dan membantu biaya berobat ibu saya yg sakit dengan dana ini. Setelah itu saya betul2 percaya bahwa program bisnis ini bener2 bekerja. Sejak itu saya mulai aktif mempromosikan program ini ke siapa saja, lewat email, milis, sms, dll. If somebody could help, it would be appreciated. Heya all, I did a google search for our facebook pages. Google said that these are the ones we currently have: https://www.facebook.com/pages/openSUSE/45393742283; product/service with 2600 likes http://www.facebook.com/pages/openSUSE/107715102589260; Interest with 5200 likes http://www.facebook.com/OpenSUSECentral; community page with 5280 likes http://www.facebook.com/groups/opensuseproject/; group page with 5900 members I do not know who owns the first one, but I think it should go. I see Bryen making frequent posts, maybe he can make that happen? We should then try and let people know that the other pages are the ones they should go to. In that regard, the second one, despite the 5200 likes, should imho go too. Again I do not know who 'owns' it but I see Stuart making frequent posts, could you do this, Stuart? Then we need to get you and byren added to the ones left: the community page and the facebook group. These two are the most active so I think it makes most sense to focus on them. And obviously I'd rather see the OpenSUSECentral stay as it has a much prettier URL. I will try to get OpenSUSECentral renamed to openSUSE. There is an individual with that name, let's see if we can get it. If not, let's at least try to rename OpenSUSECentral to openSUSECentral. Gertjan is one of the masters of the OpenSUSECentral page. Gertjan, could you give me and SatManUK (stuart tanner, http://www.facebook.com/georgianpropertiesuk) access too? Stuart offered to be our social media master for the openSUSE 12.1 release so he has things to post to the page and I just like to be in control :D Comments, suggestions? Folks, With 12.1 just days away, please visit en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Social_media_launch_plan and help out wherever you can. We need volunteers to handle the various social networks and to add any relevant stuff to the launch plan. Carlos, you volunteered to create a new 3D Geeko for 12.1 that we can use on our social media pages. Can you let us know the status of this? Kostas, you said you'd contact the Ambassador team to find people who are handling social media in other languages and ask them to join us. Can you send an email this weekend? On Monday afternoon, I will send out an email to the Project and ask the community to join in the reptition efforts so we can get some good high visibility in the various networks. Beginning this Sunday, I will begin days-long efforts to fully monitor and push content out on the sites I have volunteered to work with. Heya all, I've just finished updating the posters we made last year at SCALE in the USA. They are ready for translation and I can then print a bunch in time for the openSUSE 12.1 release parties! Who's up for translating them? download the svg files at the link below, translate them (open in Inkscape, edit the text) and mail them back to me... I will try to get at least Spanish (in the USA and Brazil and Spain), Portugese (Brazil), Chinese (Taiwan/China) and a few European languages (German, French, more?) printed. I would still appreciate it if someone with a fast computer and a fast connection could create PDF and PNG files for the many svg based posters. That makes it much easier for people to download and print! I am currently trying to find out what to print and how many. Hey all, Today is your last chance to get changes in openSUSE mentioned in the Product Highlights and the release announcement. Tonight I will begin to move them to the wiki and write the first draft of the release announcement. Tomorrow the announcement as well as the Highlights will be send to the press so they can prepare for their articles. Any major changes not mentioned in our documentation by that time will thus not be featured in their work. So, if one or more of the updates you've done is really significant - make sure it is mentioned in the Product Highlights. If it represents a major deal, mention that and explain what's cool, it might make it into the announcement itself :D The page below is like a wiki, except that you don't need to know wiki syntax or anything else, just go in and edit. As seen that bands (like The All-American Rejects, well done, guys ;-) ) and also companies (like Macy´s) are having such a pages account, we also should go for one. We discussed about using Google+ for openSUSE in the past and especially during release time, this could be helpfull. [opensuse-marketing] Making some adjustments...

Dear Team, In early 2010, I was elected by fellow marketing team members to lead the marketing team. I've been grateful for the support and have thoroughly enjoyed everyone's participation in the team as we moved forward. And on a personal level, I've had the real pleasure to meet so many of you in person across the globe. You are all so amazingly energized and hard-working. Times have moved forward since those early days. This is truly an empowered marketing team and so many of you have a clearer definition of what your roles are when it comes to supporting and marketing the openSUSE Project. For me, the evolution is stunning. But that's not to say we don't have more work to do. Of course, there's still more opportunities to build stronger campaigns, effective organization and highly visible awareness of the Project to the world. But these are ongoing things that will always have "opportunities for improvement." I've loved working with so many of you. But at the same time, I have expended many hours of my life on this and I need to start taking care of myself and addressing my own needs as well. I am also beginning a job search. I took two years off from work to give openSUSE my full-time attention and now I need to give Bryen my full time attention. Therefore, with the launch of 12.1, I will step down from my role as Marketing Team lead. But this doesn't mean that I'll be gone! :-) Far from it, I'll still be around and helping out and supporting the openSUSE Project in any way that I can. So let's keep that openSUSE Fire burning and thank you all for giving me such a rewarding experience. Marcus derserves most of the credit for the design but the entire artwork team contributed with feedback, tweaks, derivatives etc And things like the colour was only chosen after feedback from the whole community. As part of the preparation for the openSUSE 12.1 launch, I've reworked the Buy_openSUSE page according to the guidelines from a recent project meeting: "We put on /Buy_openSUSE all box-like (commercial packaged) products that have asked for trademark approval and are unmodified versions of the openSUSE release" I've updated the English page for 12.1 now and created a new page for commercial offerings as discussed in the meeting. Stuart, you're welcome to add information about Balsam Professional on the Commercial offerings page. Heya all, We have all een complaining at times about our two repositories on gitorious. First of all because they overlap - the one (openSUSE/art) has both distro artwork and marketing things, the other (opensuse- artwork) has only marketing things. The second complaint is that gitorious isn't easy to work with. For the first problem: I have moved the stuff from openSUSE/art to gitorious where it seemed to make sense to me. I did however not ask if you all were OK with that so I do that now - better to ask for forgiveness and revert a commit than to ask for permission :D If you are unhappy with the changes, let me know please! If you don't have access to opensuse-artwork, let me know too :D Second, gitorious is not perfect for us. The biggest issue, at least for the upcoming 12.1 release, is that you can not download files from there. At least, not if they are bigger than 1 MB or so. That is a big problem. Now we haven't decided on a good successor yet but for the time being I am going to clone our repo into Github. There you can, ON THE WEBSITE, see differences between files, and you can download big files. That solves at least the biggest issues... We can then, later on, decide on a better solution. Let me know what you think about moving to Github.
