Hi folks, I'm trying to do a review of our pages on the wiki, and in looking at the search results for marketing pages, I came across two distinct page leaders: http://en.opensuse.org/Marketing/(whatever) http://en.opensuse.org/Marketing_Team/(whatever) Is there a reason how we ended up with two different things instead of all under one? I'd like to know the history and background before I think about what needs to be tackled. Hello Mates, since Issue 118 we have some new Sections. Interesting thing is: "From Abassadors", a place for Ambassadors to post about their work. The other Section is: "openSUSE in $COUNTRY". You as translator have to change $COUNTRY to your Country. And then you can post special Informations for your Country. [opensuse-marketing] Concept development for openSUSE 11.3 Promo Video

Hello , As per the discussions in yesterdays Marketing Team Meeting [1] , now i would like the community to focus and discuss on the preparation of a concrete concept development plan for 11.3 promotional video (PV) .I know openSUSE 11.2 PV [2] was not made as it had to be and each one of us was not free enough to share his/her comments/views for the same.So this time please don't hesitate and freely share your viewpoint. As we all know how a PV can attract maximum numbers , thus now we need to figure out 'How it should be done' , 'The contents' and so on.So as to fetch as much as possible.But thats just RAW. So , lets just start with basic things first and get the ideology behind it.Slowly and steadily we would move to actual building up of the Concept for 11.3 PV . 1) How long the PV should be ? Not more than 1 minute and 30 seconds (+-) .We dont wanna bore them , also don't appreciate feedbacks like "I started to watch and it ended" . 2)In general , What should be there ? With the above mentioned time frame the main focus would be to show what exactly 11.3 is all about and feature those things which would actually market the 'video' to market openSUSE ... THE BOARD . Yes , I plan the Board Members to feature on-screen .Well not only the Board Members , I would be more than happy if someone could get few clips on how and what input does the cool geeks / hackers / developers put in along with some cool talks of the contributors (this is the time to appear on TV , don't miss it ;) ) 3) Who is our target audience ? The ONE who searches for some cool stuff for his/her PC/Laptop , the ONE who wanna stay connected to his/her friends to the ONE who is actually a Geek . 4) Cost and time effective.../? One thing while preparing this video should be taken care of is , it should not include huge cost / no cost at all and optimum utilization of time.So that you can perform your other tasks and focus on this quite freely. 5)Target-Date of completion ? Its really good that we have started by now as the release is in July , so we have plenty of Time left and can surely produce a good QUALITY video (i dont refer to some 1920×1080 pixels (1080i/1080p here).By end of June , we should have the PV ready with us .In case we missed something or somewhere something went wrong,we will still have around a weeks time to improvise it. 6)Tone of th PV ? IMO , the tone of the PV should be formal with certain amount of humor in it , as humor would play a great role in getting the interest of the audience.But thats not enough , humor should be planned in such a way or rather after such intervals that the audience cannot stop watching it and dont close it as soon as it starts. 7) What do we want our audience to do after watching the PV ? Obviously , we dont want them to get back to their work and sip coffee or have beer.So at the end of the PV , a 2-3 sec frame mentioning the website URL with a cool gecko (maybe blink his eyes) would be a great option ;) . Now , waiting for your valuable feedback , opinion(s) on how to make the above better or is something else to be added ;) . As i feel this is not yet complete .
