Hi listmates !
We have a very good motto "Have a lot of fun !" for the project &
community and of course I like it very much. However, I came up with an
idea: "Why don't we have another *yearly* slogan or catch-phrase for
openSUSE community ?"
I'm one of the supporters of Urawa Red Diamonds, which is a famous
football(soccer) club in Japan. The club has a yearly slogan every
year, for example:
"Go foward, Hands in Hands !" <- last year
"Devotion to Urawa" <- this year
If we replace Urawa with openSUSE - "Devotion to openSUSE" - don't you
think that can be a slogan for us, people who love and contribute to
openSUSE ? So, I want offer my draft.
- Every year-end, we make a contest for the next year's openSUSE
community catch-phrase.
- Phase 1: Subscription - first half of December
Community members can nominate their candidate for the next year's
catch-phrase.
- Phase 2: Election - second half of December
Community members can vote for their most favorite catch-phrase
from among candidates.
- Phase 3: Result presentation and award - End of the year
Election winner will be announced and the auther will be given an
award.
- The yearly catch-phrase can be used by any community members for
community activities, for example, posters, banners, T-shirts,
stickers, etc.
I think this contest would be very easy to participate for every
community members and therefore be fairly useful to unify all community
members.
The procedure is similar in the one for YaST mascot contest we had last
year, but we need an election system for this contest and I don't have a
good idea for that. However, I hope some of you are interested in this
idea and offer solutions for it.
Best,

Hi all,
Not sure how many folks on this list read OStatic -- it's a blog in
the GigaOM network that's been gaining in popularity. I post there
occasionally, not quite as often as I'd like.
They have a "Featured Software" item on the front page of the site,
and openSUSE has not been featured there, traditionally. However, I
talked to Sam and they're supposed to start putting it in the
rotation.
One thing we could do is to beef up the openSUSE page here:
http://ostatic.com/opensuse
So, I"m asking two things:
1) If anyone on the marketing list is looking for something to help
with on getting the word out about openSUSE - this is an easy way to
get started. In particular, adding reviews, screenshots, and
additional resources to the page would be great. (We already have a
lot of screenshots on the openSUSE wiki, so this is just a matter of
moving from one to the other, really.)
2) Suggestions of other "do it yourself" places online that have
reasonably high traffic and would be worth someone's time to work on?
Best,
Zonker

Hi all ;)
I think suse way of managing repositories is not clear enough, many many users
seems to mix up things between factory , stable and unstable repos.
Many questions are asked on this, which tends to show that it's not clear or
maybe if it is from developpers viewpoint it is not from users' one.
I 'd like things to be simplified in next versions.
Has this been discussed or already on tracks maybe ?
Thanks

Hi all!
I already finished most of the next newsletter tonight. http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Weekly_News/57 .
Some bits are missing - either add them or wait until Sunday. I won't be available on Saturday.
The gobby session is available. Cya.

Hello list,
I am having a problem with the "On the web" section in the german translation
("Im Netz" in german). I ever get only {{{2}}} for the template output. I have
tried anything to find the error, but I could not fix it.
It would be nice, if someone else could have a look at that problem. Maybe I
am only overslooking something.
