All, Just FYI, I built an update yasm package for 13.1 in buildservice: https://build.opensuse.org/project/repositories/home:drankinatty:branches:o… One of these days I'll figure out how to point to it correctly from the myriad of links on the buildservice page... You guys working on factory can pull the package for the current release, validate it and include it if all is well. I didn't find a current build for 1.3.0 when I looked. -- David C. [opensuse-factory] evolution issue / openSuse 13.2 RC1

Hi, I am running openSuse 13.2 RC1 for a few days now and overall the experience is very nice. I have actually updated an openSuse 13.2 beta to RC1 (with zypper update) I am using Gnome and evolution for emails. Since updating to RC1 evolution does not start properly. I have to constantly erase ~/.local/share/evolution in order to get it to start. Otherwise it gets stuck with the following error message (if started from a terminal) ~> evolution ** (evolution:1914): CRITICAL **: categories_icon_theme_hack: assertion 'filename != NULL && *filename != '\0'' failed (evolution:1914): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: The property GtkSettings:gtk-button-images is deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. It will be removed in a future version. (evolution:1914): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: The property GtkSettings:gtk-menu-images is deprecated and shouldn't be used anymore. [opensuse-factory] How to fix no package vte-2.90 found?

Hi. This problem has arised recently. Thanks to Dominique I know that we don't have vte 2.90 but 2.91 for factory, but I still don't know how to make it work. If I install vte and/or vte2 (devel packages I mean) programs like Tilda and LXTerminal complains about "no package vte-2.90 found". For example, with LXTerminal (gtk3 version) .configure stops with configure: error: Package requirements (vte-2.90 >= 0.20.0) were not met: no package vte-2.90 found Am I installing the wrong packages? It happens the same when I use the OBS. If it were an upstream bug I would speak with the developers. The role of Linux distributions is changing. We are seeing more standardization between distributions due to the adoption of central tools such as systemd. Device- and task-specific distributions like Raspbmc are finding traction in people's houses to run everyday things. Embedded systems are becoming standardized enough that formerly PC-centric distributions like Fedora are able to be installed on ARM machines through their regular installer. Cloud specific distributions, for instance CoreOS, are opening new venues for distributions to offer the building blocks for massive Linux deployments on virtualized infrastructure. On the other hand, there are voices claiming that distributions are not providing for all the needs people have. Packaging is said to be hard. The belief is that there are too many hurdles to jump over which results in software lagging behind or not offering the best upstream user experience. Some users are voicing concerns that their use-cases are not considered. The purpose of the distributions devroom is to offer a forum for all people interested in distribution issues to meet and collaborate on improving the distribution ecosystem. What are the upcoming challenges facing the distribution space? How can distribution maintainers collaborate better to solve cross-distribution issues? What are interesting developments helping distribution developers to excel in the distribution space? For this purpose we invite submissions of talks, panel sessions, round-table discussions, Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions or lighting talks related to distribution specific issues. [opensuse-factory] libmng.so.1 no longer available anywhere.

The proprietary WPS Office offered by Kingsoft depends on the libmng version 1 which up until just days ago was available in some form. I've pinged their developers to let them know they may want to consider using libmng2, but in the meantime it is not possible anymore to run the newer versions of this software in openSUSE. [opensuse-factory] [RFC] Drop package linux32 from Factory

Hi! The presence of the linux32 package (installed by default on x86_64) causes issues including not behaving well with elements of the GNOME desktop [bnc#841070], but also more invasive ones such as [bnc#435538]. I request the consideration of dropping the package altogether from Factory if there is no reasonable use case which justifies otherwise. If this cannot be done because people do use this package, might I suggest removing it from the default patterns* and hiding the .desktop menu item from the applications menu (as promised in bnc#408320, then somehow reverted), in the least? Thank you. * It is recommended by the pattern 'enhanced_base' at present. [opensuse-factory] Kernel 3.17.0 + docked monitor issue

I apologize if that is a wrong list to ask, feel free to add any other lists for that. After I've updated kernel to 3.17.0, DP1 monitor, attached to docking station, stopped working. It works when I boot with previous kernel, 3.16.3. Both kernels installed from: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/ When I'm not attached to docking station - everything works as expected. When I attach to docking station in runtime - mouse and keyboard works, but DP1 does not. When I reboot being docked - it fails on X start and give me text mode. Looks like there is something with intel drivers, because the only error I've found was a message "no attached monitors found" in Xorg.0.log (will be able to reproduce if it will help resolve the issue). Has anyone else experienced similar issue?
