Hello,
boot.ppc.iso does not seem to be useable. It does not contain a bootable
kernel :( Any timeframe, when it will be fixed? I wanted to test it this
year...
Bye,
CzP
Hello,
I downloaded opensuse factory yesterday (dec. 27.) for i386 and ppc.
First of all: I could not find a bootable kernel image on the PPC boot
disk (boot.ppc.iso), so PPC testing is postponed until I can start
installation...
And my problems on x86 (a Compaq nx8220 notebook):
- there was an unsolved dependency, that 'alsa-tools' needs
'alsa-firmware 1.0.10'. Later I saw, that it was actually installed :)
- and a show stopping bug (for me): the installed grub does not work on
my machine: when I choose 'windows' from the menu, it reboots, when I
choose any of the Linux menu entries, it just freezes, and nothing
happens (the wonderfull christmas tree remains on screen).
So, I put back 10.0... Bye,
CzP
Hello,
I have just installed 10.1alpha 4 and can not get networking to work.
This has worked in all previous versions.
Network card is :Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbits/sec) LAN subsystem using the Marvell* Yukon* 88E8050 PCI Express* Gigabit Ethernet Controller
The sysKonnect driver is supposed to work with it, but no joy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Daryl
First the problem:
After finishing the upgrade from 10.1 alpha 3 to alpha 4 I tried to use
the graphical log-in to my user account. This initially resulted in an
alert box with the warning that it couldn't start kstartupconfig.
Pressing "Okay" resulted in a second alert box stating that kdeinit
couldn't be started. After pressing "Okay" on this box resulted in being
returned to the log-in screen.
The solution/workaround:
I logged in using fvwm as the window manager instead of KDE, logged back
out, swapped back to KDE and logged back in again. Not sure what this
reset, and a look at the available log files doesn't appear to show
anything, but this sequence worked.
Regards,
David Bolt

So - I've got an iomega REV (35Gb removable hard disk) drive, and am
trying to use MicroLite's BackupEdge software.
9.2 and earlier worked fine - with SuSe Professional 9.3 it broke,
and it's still broken with 10.0
The issue seems to be related to blocking. It WRITES just fine
(returns no errors) for any size files, and it will READ small files
just fine, but when I try to back up a whole
directory, it returns a bunch of errors - edge says "Directory not in
proper format"; but there's nothing in /var/log/messages or anywhere
else that I can find.
Has anyone else seen this?
Has anyone else got a REV working with 10.x
Thanks in advance!
