Hello,
I prepared updated syslog-ng packages with the close supervision of
Marius Tomaschewski, the maintainer of the syslog-ng package. They are
available in home:czanik in the openSUSE BS. I would like to see these
packages included in Factory, to replace the ancient 2.0 syslog-ng, but
MT seems to have disappeared (no response to e-mails in the past two weeks).
Questions:
- it works fine on my machines, but could anybody else test it?
- what is the proper way to get syslog-ng updated in factory, if the
maintainer seems to be unavailable?
- I have now both 3.0 and 3.1 packages there, called syslog-ng and
syslog-ng31. The ultimate goal is to include 3.1. Should I drop the
current syslog-ng package and rename syslog-ng31 to syslog-ng?
Bye,
CzP

Hi,
I'm asking here a question not related to factory directly, because I want to reach the devs. You
can reply on opensuse list instead if you prefer.
To keep it short (longer post in the opensuse list), I'm attempting to upgrade from 11.0 to 11.2 (32
bits) using the retail DVD, wich turns out it has only the x64 version. It offers to upgrade to 64
bit the 32 bit install:
The architecture of the system installed in the selected partition
is different from the one of this product" [continue] [cancel]
I said "continue", then I checked the package list. As far as I could see, it intended to replace
all packages with those corresponding to the 64 bits version. If this works, fine... but I was
afraid, and I cancelled. Not because risking data (it is a copy), but because of possible waste of
time. I thought I'd better RFC.
Has anybody done this, an upgrade from 32 to 64 bits? Does it work? Is it "supported"?

It would be good if we would start with collection release notes
snippets for 11.2 now. Do not hesitate to provide input!

I am running latest ML as a VBox guest on an 11.2 host.
I can ping in and out.
I can ssh in and out, LAN or WAN.
I can open LAN Samba shares
I can connect in over fish or sftp from LAN and WAN
But can't connect out to any hosts over fish or sftp.
Host I'm trying to connect over WAN shows:
pam_unix2(sshd:auth): conversation failed
error: ssh_msg_send: write
error: PAM: Authentication failure for 'user' from 'ipaddress' port
'33804 ssh2.
Host I try to connect in LAN says nothing.
I booted the same VBox guest using 11.0 Live KDE CD and everything works
from there.
What should I look into?

Hi,
I updated to MS3, using zypper dup, rebooting complained about two
missing kernelmodules: result no desktop starting up, no tty.
Fixing the issue using the Netiso leaded to ncurses and trying to load
the installmodules 3 times.
Not possible to install or repair.
'an error occured'....
All went well untill the install should start: ti connecting to the
server, downloading the modules. Than few modules missing, and stop.
Rescue did work, but i did not know the commands to get it doing what i
needed.
Luckily i have a still working 11.1 install.
Any ideas as how to get the missing modules installed, and getting the
system booted?
(amd modules and pata are missing, caught in a glimps)
Unfortunately i am not able to get to the bootlog from this install, i
will try to get the right names of the missing modules.

Hello,
I'm new to this list and I want to propose the addition of the package 'crawl'
to devel:openSUSE:Factory. It contains the Stone Soup version of Dungeon
Crawl, a rogue-like game much like Nethack. It isreleased under GPLv2 and is
one of the most popular rogue-likes and very actively developed. Still, it
hasn't been packaged yet.
I was working on the package for quite some time now and I think it's in a
good shape to get some reviews on it. The game consists of a terminal-version
and a SDL-based tiled version which are split across the packages 'crawl' and
'crawl-sdl'. Currently they are found in the project 'home:saschpe'.

Hello list-mates,
As some of you may know, I've been working on making Oxygen icons available
on Apache, and I would like to get some feedback.
Do you see any unrecognizable icons at http://www.javierllorente.com/tmp/ ?
I want to make it easy to enable. Quoting from the README file included in
the apache2-icons-oxygen package
In order to enable this collection of icons on Apache, you have to add
Include /etc/apache2/mod_autoindex-defaults-oxygen.conf
(Apache-wide)
to /etc/apache2/httpd.conf. Do not forget to comment the line
Include /etc/apache2/mod_autoindex-defaults.conf
and comment the following as well in /etc/apache2/default-server.conf
Alias /icons/ "/usr/share/apache2/icons/"
<Directory "/usr/share/apache2/icons">
Options Indexes MultiViews
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
(Virtual hosts)
to your virtual host configuration file (usually located under
/etc/apache2/vhosts.d/).
Is there a better way to do it?
My idea is to make Apache's directory listing more beautiful. It's already
part of the Apache Build Service project and if you like it, I could submit it
to Factory.
The latest rpm packages are available at
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/javierllorente/
Build Service project:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=apache2-icons-
oxygen&project=home:javierllorente
I was also thinking about dropping apache2-icons-crystal unless someone likes
Crystal icons.
Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Was this packaged dropped from openSUSE or wasn't there to begin with?
I have come across a number guys, mainly newbies, who have got into a
rut trying to use minicom, I pointed them to gtkterm which is a GUI with
a simple menu that eliminates the confusion.
Regards
Sid.
