It would be good if we would start with collection release notes
snippets for 11.2 now. Do not hesitate to provide input!

I see "checkinstall" is still broken. Something keeps it from writing
in a directory that exist.

I am currently unable to upgrade to perl-5.10.1 because current Factory
builds of perl-spamassassin and apache2-mod_perl require perl-5.10.0.
perl-5.10.0-72.5.x86_64
spamassassin-3.2.5-29.1.x86_64
perl-spamassassin-3.2.5-29.1.x86_64
apache2-mod_perl-2.0.4-40.92.x86_64
current yast2 requires perl-5.10.1
yast2-2.18.25-2.5.x86_64
yast2-core-2.18.19-2.3.x86_64

My need for spamassassin is crippling my Factory system.
Solution?
tks,

Hi,
The nouveau driver is not in the oss repo. It was in 11.0, it disappeared
in 11.1, it is not back in 11.2, where it can only be found in a home
repo.
A year ago, 2008-11-30, Marcus Meissner wrote in this mail list, in reply
to a question from Rajko M:
] Is no longer on 11.1, was dropped.
]
] It can be found in the oS buildservice.
<http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2008-11/msg01228.html>
But why? Is it bad, wrong, too experimental? What?
This is a genuine question, I want to know if I can try it because I have
problems with the NV driver (it crashes on restore from hibernation)
If I read in /var/log/Xorg.0.log (oS 11.2), I see:
(II) Loading extension DRI2
(II) LoadModule: "nvidia"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module nvidia
(II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
(EE) Failed to load module "nvidia" (module does not exist, 0)
(II) LoadModule: "nouveau"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module nouveau
(II) UnloadModule: "nouveau"
(EE) Failed to load module "nouveau" (module does not exist, 0)
(II) LoadModule: "nv"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules//drivers/nv_drv.so
(II) Module nv: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 1.6.5, module version = 2.1.14
Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 5.0
Thus, the order of preference for the X org people is:
1) privative nvidia driver
2) open nouveau driver
3) open nv driver.
Why, if to them the nouveau driver takes preference to nv, was not
included in the distro? Something wrong with that driver?
(another question: is there a known method to switch driver? There is no
more xorg.conf file)

Sitting at a 7400 G4 as I type this, I can say that there remains some
interest. The biggest area would be in revitalizing old machines that
were otherwise disposed of as excess. Schools trying to wring a small
amount of worth out of older machines would also benefit.
Today's world is one where the x86 architecture is not absolutely
dominant. We're already seeing in the smartphone market the near
dominance of ARM architecture in devices. As those devices are becoming
essentially small portable computers first with telephone capability a
welded-on after-thought, the potential install base is becoming broader.
Strangely enough, Android is capable of running on any Power
Architecture architecture based handsets although I am not aware of any
out there right now.
Will there be a "mass market" in a few years with a single architecture
dominating? I don't know. Right now, the signs for the future are
uncertain. Keeping a PPC legacy intact at least provides good practice
for any potential world where no single architecture dominates.

I am consistently getting postfix updates which do not perform postmap
against changed files, expecially relay, header-checks and generic,
generating error entries in /var/log/mail.
SuSEconfig does *not* perform postmap against these files.

Hi,
When I tried distribution update via zypper I found that changing repositories
is quite annoying and should be simplified. So I create feature
https://features.opensuse.org/308420 . It describe how to benefit from
services, which defines repositories for distribution. Thus, if you want
update distribution you just refresh service to get the latest stable product
or the latest snapshot.
If you like that idea please vote for it.
Thanks for your attention.
