openSuSE 11.2 Emerald RC2 Has again caused Amarok to crash at bootup. I did track the problem before and fixed it but this time I have no idea. I did a "strace -fo amarok.err amarok" and a amarok --debug 2>amarok.err. It happened on openSuSE 2.1.1 and my compiled 2.2.0. OpenSuSE's version would also only play 20 of the 850 files in the directory that I specified as the Playlist. I have done an update with 'zypper up' and with 'zypper dup', but my system is still a RC1. [opensuse-factory] Network not working on os-11.2 RC2 dvd

Hi, I just tried using the openSUSE 11.2 RC2 build 339 x86_64 dvd to update and it couldn't access any of the repositories I enabled. I tried automatic dhcp and manual configuration and although I could ctrl/alt/F2 to a console and ping download.opensuse.org and resolve the url Yast installation couldn't access anything. [opensuse-factory] 11.x: What is the relationship between nscd and nslcd?

Hi, I know you're all busy with the 11.2 release, but maybe someone can give nevertheless me a quick answer on that question. TIA. :-) :-) In 11.1 the new package nss-ldapd was introduced, with the daemon nslcd. It is supposed to be used for LDAP connection pooling when one wants to have LDAP being a nameservice source, like passwd or group. Since quite some time nscd, the nameservice cache daemon, also has that functionality as a side effect. Since programs don't make nss queries themselves, but contact the cache daemon, only it connects to the LDAP server. How is that supposed to work together? -- Shall one use only one of them? -- Or both? -- Does nslcd replace nscd when one uses LDAP? There are no dependencies in the packages and no notes in the documentation (that I found ;-)) what is the best practice concerning these nameservice lookup daemons. Can anyone spend some light on this issue, please? Joachim PS: It's also quite irritating that nss_ldap still exists with the old PADL README* files, as in 10.x, but nss-ldapd claims that it's a reimplementation of nss_ldap -- and both packages include the same /lib/libnss_ldap.so.2. So either one or the other README is wrong. :-( I also don't know if one should install both nss_ldap and nss-ldapd or only one of them. No dependencies, no conflicts; argc, argv, aaaargggghhh, ... [opensuse-factory] RC2: Kate crashes

Hello Mates, some days ago i've updated my System to RC2. Now i have an Problem with kate: Start kate via KMenue the Program crashes. If i start it via kate in the Konsole the Program runs. I compared both and i noticed, that the KMenue uses %u as initialisation. [opensuse-factory] 11.2 RC2 more updated than factory??????

Hello, I am a newbie in OpenSuse, I decided to use Factory (I have used Debian sid and Arch), and if I screw the system at any time, I will install the stable version of OpenSuse :-) I thought that Factory had the newest software, with the risk of less stability. But I see that the factory repository has the version 3.5.3 of Firefox, whereas the factory-snapshot repository (11.2 RC2) has version 3.5.4. How can a *snapshot* have a newer version??? Also, I would like to ask whether factory actually has the newest versions compared to other OpenSuse's repos, or not. Thank you very much in advance. [opensuse-factory] Mixing DVD and FTP repositories

Hi, to speed up the update from openSUSE 11.2-RC1 to 11.2-RC2 a bit, I downloaded the 11.2-RC2 DVD via Bittorrent. I added the 11.2-RC2 DVD in YaST as a software repository. Because I use a lot of software which is not part of the DVD I also enabled the openSUSE main repositories (OSS+Non-OSS, "Haupt-Repository" in German). All packages were downloaded via HTTP. For instance opensuse-manuals_de-11.2-2.2.noarch.rpm is part of the DVD image. But zypper downloads it via HTTP. Changing the priorities (for instance from 99 to 100 for the ISO DVD image) did not help. How could I prioritize the local DVD image? Why is that "zypper in mysql" while retrieving: mysql-5.1.36-6.7.2.i586.rpm shows up with a Red Hat init.d directory as "ls: cannot access /etc/rc.d/rc*.d/S*mysql: No such file or directory". [opensuse-factory] problem on tp X200 after upgrade to 11.2RC2

Hello, (sorry if this is known) i ran into a problem after doing a zypper dup yesterday, upgrading to 11.2RC2 from 11.1. on a thinkpad X200 laptop. When booting (normal kernel or failsafe, doesn't make a difference), the system gets stuck after Starting HAL ..OK The system is still responsive to the SYSRQ key and to ctrl alt del. When I boot into runlevel 3, I can switch to runlevel 5 by hand without problems, but booting into runlevel 5 directly hangs the system. Does anyone have a pointer, what this might be related to ? (earlykdm on intel graphics ?) Probably unrelated, but I also noticed that a lot of Plasma widgets in KDE4 have gone dark again, as on some earlier KDE4 versions under 11.1, this problem had been gone however, with the latest 11.1 and KDE4 updates before I updated to 11.2RC2.
