I tried to get a working package in my home:-project (https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:ojkastl_buildservice:Virt-Mana…), but I had to disable all but one of the many (200?) patches, because otherwise the build failed due to patches being not applicable. The packages builds, can be installed, and virt-manager launches. But I'm not sure what the package is missing. Or doing wrong. Are these patches included upstream? Who knows what these patches do? We want to keep os13.2 with version 1.0.1 (same version found on the just released SLES 12). Virt-manager 1.0.1 contains 93 patches. 50 of the patches are upstream bug fix patches contained in 1.1.0 and newer. The remaining 43 are a mix of platform specific patches and some patches that need to be pushed upstream but have not yet been. [opensuse-factory] Very laggy experience openSUSE 13.2 RC1

Hi, I am trying openSUSE 13.2 RC1, there are lots of problems with the performance, I think this is because the live USB is being mounted r/w for persistence, but it gives a horrible first time experience, please make the default read-only (like a DVD) and you can add an option to boot with persistence. Performance Problems: 1) Boot time is very very long, more than 5 minutes, I was booting to install to a friend, and before the desktop he wanted to try another distro because this is very slow, I told him this is only the live DVD, but he still this is terrible (me too). (I got a message "Writing superblocks and filesystem accounting information" for more than two minutes). Subsequent boots from the usb drive are very slow too, not only the first time. 2) After the boot, everything is very slow and laggy, especially things related to disks, like opening dolphin!! sometimes everything freezes for seconds then back to (laggy) normal. I suggest making an option to boot without persistence, this is very important, even if we need to postpone the release until its ready. I also suggest making (read-only) the default, and putting the word (slow) with the persistence option so the user knows that this is not the usual speed. [opensuse-factory] wicked: is there an equivalent to ifup/ifdown's POST_UP_SCRIPT/PRE_DOWN_SCRIPT?

Hi there, I'm currently using Factory version 20141011. The wicked network service is creating some headache for me. I used to use the PRE_DOWN_SCRIPT and POST_UP_SCRIPT variables in ifcfg-<dev>, but it appears that they are no longer supported by wicked. FWIW, my scripts added some virtual IP aliases depending on if the machine was booted in "server" or in "client" mode. Is there any equivalent available? TIA, cheers. l8er manfred

Hello List Mates, When I selected "mlocate" as one of the packages to install for the first time installation of openSUSE 13.2 RC1, it did not create a "locate" gid group. [opensuse-factory] Right-to-left problem in Okular

I run mysql on localhost and am the only user.. Any help would be appreciated as I need to get this working before I can migrate the data.I asume the mysql packages are correct as it was a fresh install.This is the on;y time I'vehad a problem installing mysql. But let me start at the beginning: The laptop is running NetworkManager, as I am using it in more than one WiFi. Historically, the laptop has also been running dnsmasq to resolve some local machines. This worked very nice with NetworkManager's ability to set the local search list according to which WiFi I am in. Then I started using libvirt, which also uses dnsmasq to provide network to the guests. As there have been some conflicts, I switched to running dnsmasq via NetworkManager (dns=dnsmasq in NetworkManager.conf and a dnsmasq.conf in /etc/NetworkManager/dnsmasq.d/). But somehow, this setup got mangled up, and there is no dns server set or not the right one. There should be 127.0.0.1 first, which then uses the right 'local' forwarder, depending on the WiFi. Also, after resuming from suspend-to-whatever, sometimes the search list is right, sometimes it is incomplete, sometimes this gets changed in the first minute after waking up. Strange! I am not sure how NetworkManager, netconfig and dnsmasq should work. And I am not sure how this is going to be handled, once 13.2 is released and wicked kicks in.
