SuSE 90 XFree Freeze

Hi, I've installed SuSE 90 on PIV 2.6 with NVidia GForce4 MX440SE 8xAGP. Also I have applied all X patches but that didn't solve the problem. The problem is that almost everytime when I shutdown or restart X server the computer absolutely hangs. After several times shuting down the computer the splash screen also disapeared. Does anybody knows what the problem is? Thanks, Rumen

Problem with TV on ATI Radeon 7500 graphics card (Suse 8.2, Xfree 4.3.0)

Hi, I'm running Linux Suse 8.2 with a ATI Radeon 7500 graphics card (RV200 QW chip set). I use xine to watch movies, which works perfectly fine with my normal computer monitor. The resolution is 1280x1024 with 3D hardware acceleration enabled. So far so good. However, the ATI Radeon 7500 has TV out as well. -1- Whenever I connect the TV with the graphics card _after_ my linux box has booted, the TV remains black. Probably, the card checks for a attached TV during startup once and keeps the TV out disabled forever. Correct? Is there a way to connect a TV during normal graphics card operation? -2- Whenever I connect the TV with the graphics card _before_ the computer is booted, the xserver crashes and says: /var/log/messages: ... Dear list users, I've just bought a Compaq Armada nx9010 with an ATI Radeon IGP 345M. I can't make it work properly in my SuSE with 2.4.20 kernel and XFree86-4.3.0-15 I found XFree86 modules for this device eccessible from http://www.suse.de/en/private/download/xfree86/index.html but couldn't make them work. At the moment of executing Sax2 the screen slowly became white and it was not possible to do anything. How can I build that modules? Thank you very much.

SUSE 8.2 when running X the desktop is offset about 1.5 inches up the screen. I have read the The Hitchhiker's Guide to X386/XFree86 Video Timing and tried to make adjustments using sax2. I have also done a good amount of searching on Compaq Laptop setup and tried most of what I have come across, in terms of display, graphics card. I have not made adjustments directly in XFConfig due to possible damage to screen. Perhaps this is where I need to put in some specific lines for the M700? I was anticipating the XFine2 tool would be able to assist with this problem. However abseloutly nothing happens when I try to change the position with Xfine2. The mouse geometry is correct which makes using the desktop pretty weird. I have tried different window mgrs with same results. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks and regards Steve Collinson

I was referred here for a bug in the XFree86 4.3 system running on top of Suse 8.1 XFree86 4.3 was installed using the suse-provided packages (as found somewhere on the suse support pages). The bug was traced down to X: relocation error: /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libfreetype.so: undefined symbol: FT_Has_PS_Glyph_NamesX: relocation error: /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libfreetype.so: undefined symbol: FT_Has_PS_Glyph_Names I guess all information will be available for a while at http://bugs.xfree86.org/show_bug.cgi?id=761 if not, I can repeat the symptoms and log files here. I'm not sure if this is the correct mailing list to ask, but how do I install a Canon i950 printer in SuSE? I use KDE and I successfully have an Epson640 set up, but there doesn't seem to be any support or information about newer printers. Hello How do I get 3d acceleration of mach64 running on SuSE Linux 8.2? On SuSE Linux 7.2 I got it running with Sax (XFree86 3.3) and 3Ddiag. On SuSE Linux 8.2 Sax do not run any more. the output is: SaX: searching card...done SaX: scanning failed switching to fallback server SaX: using XF86_VGA16 for configuration SaX: start new XF86_VGA16 server Is there a driver for mach64 for XFree86 4.X? Problem With G550 Matrox

I have done a lot of digging around... but I have found no solution to my G550 Matrox grpahic card causing the whole system to 'Hang' when X is started (Matrox Forums, mailing lists)... I am running Suse 8.2. I tried the Support Desk but they where not much use... and now my support time is at an end. Mention of IRQ problems have been made in various places, but the PCI slot that could share the AGP slot IRQ is empty. Anyway my previous Epox mother board had the same problem, as does my new Abit. I cannot believe I am the only person to exeprience such a problem. Regards, Pieter Budapest

Matrox developed the support for those chips pretty much themselves. It seems they have pretty much abandoned the driver since so that it is in a pretty desolate state at the moment. It definitely needs an audit - but this is difficult to do without documentation. There are some reports about hangs linked to DRI. Do you have DRI enabled? does it work better if you disable it? Egbert.
