Hi all!
I have problems with my Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 Pro graphics
board.
I have installed the glx1_linux_X4.3.zip package from
http://www.schneider-digital.de/html/body_download_ati.html
and got 2D working fine with the fglrx module.
Unfortunately 3D (after switch2xf86_glx) produces broken output. The
upper half of the screen or window is fine, but the lower is either
completely black (glxgears) or shows only the background (the mountain
range in tuxracer, but not tux and the course itself).
With mesa everything looks fine, but it's of course no real long time
option.
The X packages I have installed (did the SuSE YOU after initial install)
are these:
XFree86-4.3.0-15
XFree86-GLX-4.3.0-15
XFree86-devel-4.3.0-15
XFree86-fonts-75dpi-4.3.0-15
XFree86-fonts-scalable-4.3.0-15
XFree86-libs-4.3.0-42
XFree86-man-4.3.0-15
XFree86-server-4.3.0-63

Hi Carl
Try changing the InputDevice section of Mouse to have the protocol as
IMPS/2:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Hope this helps.

Hello,
I just upgraded to SuSE 8.2 from 8.0 and I keep experiencing annoying
problems with mouse in xfree - it ocassionaly locks up, especially when
using the wheel. It is a 3 button PS/2 with wheel using the imps/2
protocol. After switching to text console and back it starts working
again... And yes, it did work with no problems in 8.0 ....
Any hints ?
Thanks, Tom

This is very unfortunate. I've spent weeks to improve mouse handling
testing all mice I could possibly come across. Since 8.2 I've done
some more improvements on the mouse driver. You can check
http://xfree86.linuxwiki.org/mouse_2fKnownIssues
for a pointer to an improved version of the driver and a debugging
version in case you still have problems.

i think this began when i uypgraded to latest kernel [rpm]

this means that the installer will need to compile a kernel interface

your kernel.

You appear to be compiling the NVIDIA kernel module with
a compiler different from the one that was used to compile
the running kernel. This may be perfectly fine, but there
are cases where this can lead to unexpected behaviour and
system crashes.
If you know what you are doing and want to override this
check, you can do so by setting IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH.
In any other case, set the CC environment variable to the
name of the compiler that was used to compile the kernel.

Obviously you don't have the glx module. Seems to me like the NVidia
driver installation didn't fully work.

HI,
I have an Nvidia GForce2MX AGP graphics running on a PC with an Intel i850
chipset.
I have downloaded the latest drivers from NVIDIA but am unable to get OpenGL
working. It is enabled in the Sax2 configuration menu, but does not load.
3ddiag says there are problems with the i850 chipset, anyone have any ideas?
Ed.

Hello,
I got my suse 8.2 distribution in April. I have an i815 chip set on my computer and I had no installation problems what so ever. But each time I try to start any 3d game (example: Tux racer) it always says no 3d devices detected and the games plays at a crawl.
I have enabled 3d accelaration with sax2 and checked the 3d config with 3Ddiag and everything is fine.
For some strange reason, the 3d games work perfectly without any hitch if I start a new session i.e if I have the same user running twice on the same machine. Can anyone figure out why?
I don't know if this mailling list is the best suited for this mail. It came the closest to what I was looking for. If it's not please let me know.
Thank you,
Regards,
Didi

Has anyone had any luck with the NVIDIA 1.0-4180 drivers on an AMD64
system? I have a SLES8-based sytem thas seems to have problems with an
NVIDIA configuration. I can compile and load the 1.0-4180 NVIDIA_kernel
and NVIDIA_GLX modules without problems. X starts up fine. But the
system will lock up shortly after I start an OpenGL screensaver and move
its window around. The X log and mtrrs look fine. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
