Hello Walter,
>look with 'xmodmap' what is defined.
I just did a xmodmap on the HP system and got the following:
xmodmap: up to 2 keys per modifier, (keycodes in parentheses):
shift Shift_L (0x32), Shift_R (0x3e)
lock Caps_Lock (0x42)
control Control_L (0x25), Control_R (0x6d)
mod1 Alt_L (0x40)
mod2 Num_Lock (0x4d)
mod3
mod4 Super_L (0x73), Super_R (0x74)
mod5 ISO_Level3_Shift (0x71)
What bothers me is the missing mod3 modifier. And the following command
seems to be a no-op, executed either remote (HP) or locally (Linux):
xmodmap -e "add mod3 = Alt_R"
>i guess you have a
>keymap-remote (what ever name) that does not define the keys.
How do I create such a beast? I have no idea what that is, maybe it
could help. Btw. I do not call xmodmap from my .profile.

SuSE 9.0
AMD ??
Soyo ??
17 inch LCD
GeForce FX 5200 AGP
A friend's tnt video card fried (fan) and we replaced it with a 128M
GeForce FX 5200 AGP.
Ran the nvidia updater (5336), followed directions
(root) sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run
san2 -m 0=nvidia
text screen changed to X and blank screen (black).
edited /etc/X11/XF86Config, nvidia changed to nv
init 5 -> blank screen (black)
Ran nvidia updater (4496) with same results.
note: With the previous tnt card, the 5336 ver would not work (blank
screen) but the 4496 would (w/o 3d, nv not nvidia driver).
I know not where to turn. Suggestions welcome, please.

Hello group -
I have an 4-year-old Abit / Athlon 850 system with 256mg memory running SuSE
9.0 right out of the box. Works well enough, but I don't think I'm getting
everything out of the video card (ATI 3D Rage Pro AGP 1X/2X) or Xfree86.
Funny enough, I just put this card in because it's an upgrade to what I had
before (an ATI Xpert 98), and it was free and it has 16 mg on the card and
some 3D capability. But I still see trails when I move windows around, SaX2
says it doesn't have 3D capability and won't let me select any expert
options (though I'm not sure what exactly they do).
Here are my questions: can I assume that an out-of-box SuSE 9.0 with a
"canned" kernel really see the video options available? Do I need to
rebuild the kernel to make sure it supports the hardware I have? Or can I
pull an RPM or two that will add functionality. Are there tweaks to Xfree
or the ATI card driver I need to know about?
Many thanks
Reid
hi
i use use 9.0 and kde 3.2
if i don't put /usr/bin first in the library path of qtconfig, qtdesigner
don't run....
i put it first, save it..... qtdesigner run well...
that save in the file home/.qt/qtrc
but when i reboot i need to do it another time...
why each time i reboot the machine this file change?
how to resolve that?
thanks

I want to have a play with LINUX using the live-eval version but I need a
little help.
1. I have a Promise RAID0 array, I see that the Live-Eval can't handle
that. What about the full version?
2. The download of the live-eval iso image threatens to take 4 hours on my
600K broadband connection, mirror site I've tried seems to take less but
downloads the file with an html extension and if I rename it to .iso, NERO
doesn't like it.
3. It looks like Microshaft users are being lured away, it's a good aim but
are there some detailed step-by-step guides? I'm fairly PC savvy but I'm
lost with this so far. It's enough to put off the faint hearted.
