Hello List,
i did an update to 11.4 and got some strange trouble.
the default kernel did not generate a useable system, since i had no keybord etc. (under investigation)
the desktop failsafe worked.
I got the desktop version working with acpi=on since the i915.ko did not load without (bug ?).
Now i am stuck with KDE. It is to smart for its own good.
It tries to change the GFX config and gets it wrong.
Changing the WM "solves" the problem but that is not what i want.
Anyone an idea where to find the kde config data that sets the display ?

Hello List,
i have tried to narrow my problem a bit.
I have found so far:
you can not use, startx or X as use because you are not allowed to copy /var/log/Xorg*log.
(bug of feature ?)
i have changed to xdm no effect
i can mv /usr/share/kde4 with no effekts (still brocken gfx).
I can not use GNOME either same effect pointing into the direction of a driver.
FVWM.ICEWM work fine.
When i accidentally started KDE inside twm it seems to work (causing some programs inside kde to segfault).
i tried "kwin --replace" what restores the broken Gfx but "fvwm2 --replace" works.
any hints ?
