Dear listmembers,
I want to inform you that I was finally successful in installing the latest
(8.18.8) ATI-drivers on my system.
Problem: when starting sax after the rpm-install, the screen went colory but
useless (though looking somewhat nice :-))) )
To resolve this, I had to change the startup - line from
sax2 -r -m -0=fglrx -b /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/sax2-profile
to
sax2 --lowres -r -m -0=fglrx -b /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/sax2-profile
from then on, the configuration became possible. Just for your information, it
might be of help for someone. Now I can happily use 1600x1200 without
problems - as I did with the 8.14.13 driver release.
System:
Tyan Tiger 2460 SMP motherboard, ATI 9600XT graphics card, 21'' Elsa Ecomo 750
monitor. SuSE 9.3.
Take care
Dieter Jurzitza
