Problem with nVidia drivers

Hi. I just updated the kernel (with YOU) and it said that I have to reinstall my GeForce 2 drivers. I read the instructions in the HOWTO. QT 3.1.2 for XFree 4.3.0?

Hello, a week ago I have updated to KDE 3.1.3. This works fine except that now there are problems with the QT-styles. The styles included in KDE 3.1.3 (as keramik) are compiled with QT 3.1.2, so this error occurres starting yast2 in a console: Conflict in /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/plugins/styles/keramik.so: Plugin uses incompatible Qt library (3.1.2)! I use the suse-packages of XFree 4.3.0 with QT 3.1.1. Are there any solutions? Perhaps QT 3.1.2 for the new XFree? Thanks, Sven

It is really frustating. My GeForce4 MMX 440 video card is totally support by suse. I had no problem with my nvidia tnt2 ultra card. When choose 3d acceleration in sax2 and test it, it will lock up. This a brand new card and I was hoping to use it with linux. Linux Locked Up

Hi, I`,m having trouble with KDE. After Installing a nd booting Ok I´ve must have changed something or made some mistake any way the proble is I can`t make my system start the X sistema correctly. presumably a video problem The question is how can I disble the X-system (KDE) and boot in text mode? I `ve tryied a rescue system from cd but I`dont know whayt to change after mountind the file system on my hard disk. Any help greatly apreciated cause I´m completely new on Linux My version is SuSe 6.4 Thank you Mauricio

i810 driver for XFree4.3 (suse8.2)

Hi list, i have an TM620 Notebook with i830m chipset. Everything is detected fine. but when i have started an cant switch back to console because the screen is blank. With XFree 4.2 this worked bad but i had a screen. When i started XF86debug i have ascii but no graphics. I tried different kernels but no success :( I tried different addons (GLX etc) no change. i would like to help to track the problem, what log or additional informatiuon are interessting ? walter

Hi Stefan, Thanks for the info about the AMD64 drivers. I have only 256k of memory so I won't be able to use that option with grub. When I try to install my video card I am using sax2 and testing it. That is when it locks up and my screen turns black. When I reboot everything is ok but of course it is not configure for a GeForce4 MMX440. It is still using the generic driver for nvidia. I was thinking about using the xconfigurator and try to change my video card but I am worried that I won't be able to start X again if something goes wrong. Can I run sax2 or xconfigurator if I cannot get into X from the command line? will I be able to switch it back to the generic nvidia driver? Problems installing GEForce4 MX440 in Suse 8.2

My computer has an AMD 2200 Athlon XP processor in it and the video card is a GeForce MX440 128MB DDR 8x AGP. I have Suse 8.2 and cannot get the card installed. I did the online update. It ask me if I wanted to install it. I said yes and my computer lock up. My screen turn black. I also tried the nvidia installer from nvidia.com and had problems. I install it but when I ran sax2 and chose the Geforce4 Mx440 card and hit finalize, I got some garbage on my screen and it lock up again. I tried the suse 8.1 nvidia drivers at the ftp site and the same thing! I used the IA32 drivers. Should I have use the AMD64 drivers? Xfree, ati and monitor

Hi, i have a problem getting X to work. Asked from some newsgroups and got an advice to post here. Yast2 probed all my hardware correctly: ATI Radeon 7500, Samsung syncmaster 500b, but after typing 'startx' i get the following error: (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. ATI Radeon driver for IGP320M

I just downloaded and installed at ati radeon igp320m (u1) chipset driver. I ran the sax2 setup for configuration, but I am unsure of what selection to make. I chose the radeon ve, and enabled 3D accelleration. after saving and rebooting, I ran glxgears to see if there was any difference. Imagine my suprise when the fps dropped from 220fps using the vesa framebuffer that 8.2 Pro installed by default, to 117fps using the 'updated' radeon driver. What up wit dat???? Suse 8.2 - No mouse / keyboard after install

I am trying to install 8.2 on a IBM blade server, I can successfully install, but when the system comes up after the first re-boot I am unable to carry on as I have lost keyboard and mouse. I have rebooted and brought the system up in "safe settings", run saX2, configured, run the various tests and everything looks fine. When I type xdm at the prompt everything starts up fine, and KDE starts up. But when I reboot, and I am presented with a login screen, I have lost keyboard and mouse. Has anybody else experieneced this problem, and if so what was done to resolve it.
