[opensuse-factory] anyone tested rsh/rlogin? Do they work for anyone?

I setup rsh/rlogin to work between my win box and linux box, as well as setting it up to allow rsh localhost more as a debug/proof thing than needing it, but it does the same thing. When I try to login to opensuse using rsh or rlogin, into rsh-0.17-726.1.x86_64 from factory, Using 2 clients from win: rsh and secureCRT (has a rsh option), or when I use rsh localhost. I get something equivalent to > rsh ishtar bash: linux/38400: No such file or directory rlogin: connection closed. --(or)--- > rsh ishtar bash: cygwin/38400: No such file or directory rlogin: connection closed. === seccrt does something similar... a ttyname/speed fed into bash as a command to be executed. That's rsh on SuSE localhost (so openfactory) and rsh on cygwin windows and securecrt -- all providing a param for a ttytype and nominal speed -- but in.rshd isn't swallowing it. I can't see how this would ever work -- tried with rlogin, tried with alternate username specs alternate commands... they all do the same. Ideas about where I should look in.rshd to fix this? [opensuse-factory] Well that was a complete waste of resources

Downloaded Milestone 4 DVD, burnt it to disc, tried to update 13.1 Milestone 3 using this DVD but the whole effort was wasted because grub2-mkconfig does not function and the upgrade failed miserably. Same for a clean, new install of Milestone 4 - grub.cfg not generated and 13.1 won't boot. I caught one of several error messages during the upgrade from Milestone #3 and it was: "Can't use an undefined value as an ARRAY reference as /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.18.0/Bootloader/Tools.pm line 431". (BTW, suddenly I cannot even use grub2-mkconfig in 12.3 - see my post in HELP named 'What is this nonsense?!') Hi Greg, First, thanks for KDE 4.11. It works perfectly. The only problem I had in the update was related to some branding packages that was fixed by removing them. By the way, KDE 4.11 has an annoying bug that prevents the user to change some file type association (see bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=321706) It seems that the patch attached to aforementioned bug solves this problem. Is it possible to build KDE for Tumbleweed with this patch or do we need to wait until the next official release? Hello. I am learning C. For current exercise I need to use the ULONG_MAX from limits.h . I have the >>current milestone of OpenSUSE<< installed. In the code I have, with nothing else in between: unsigned long int var; var=ULONG_MAX; printf("%ld",var); When executed, the last statement of the three prints out "-1" . gcc -ansi -Wall gives no output at all for this revision of the program. Though I have hardware capable of virtualization, I don't have the space to install a VM. I suspect it's a bug in OpenSUSE (maybe even quite old), so can someone, please, do quick check on a stable release of OpenSUSE, what value does the ULONG_MAX take? When I examined /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.8/include-fixed/limits.h and /usr/include/linux/limits.h , for me it looks like a third header with __LONG_MAX__ is needed. I have had installed the devel_basis, devel_kernel and devel_C_C++ patterns. I've been already testing it from the first development pre-release and I haven't got any issues with it. But there is a problem with dumpkeys rewritten: kbd-1.15.2-dumpkeys-C-opt.patch & kbd-1.15.2-dumpkeys-ppc.patch became broken and I failed to fix it. So I don't really know if I should submit anywhere. Let's discussion begin! Hello, I am new to this group & subject. I have some query on pam_ldap, nss_ldap I downloaded the latest openpam-20120526, openldap-2.4.35, pam_ldap-186, nss_ldap-265 (from PADL.com) I want to enable PAM with authentication from remote LDAP server. I am not clear of minimum package requirement, full flow, configurations and whether some deamon is involved. >From README of pam_ldap-186: Here are some possible deployment scenarios: o pam_ldap with account information in /etc flat files, kept manually in sync with LDAP o pam_ldap with account information in LDAP, using nss_ldap o pam_ldap with account information in NIS, using ypldapd It looks like PAM is coupled with NSS. For “pam_ldap” to work with LDAP, nss_ldap is needed. On Ubuntu synaptic also, I found that both pam_ldap, nss_ldap packages have to be installed or removed together. I browsed the source code of pam_ldap and it was directly using openldap APIs. Did not find pam_ldap directly using nss_ldap APIs. I want PAM LDAP functionality, without NSS, unless nss_ldap is mandated by pam_ldap. Is pam_ldap using nss_ldap at runtime? Is some deamon like nslcd or nscd created by nss_ldap to serve NSS LDAP requests? Is the deamon needed? Can the PAM LDAP functionality work without nss_ldap or deamon nslcd? Also which package or deamon reads nsswitch.conf? Opennss? How is the flow from pam_ldap to nss_ldap? Is the below flow correct? openpam -> pam.d -> pam_ldap -> nss_ldap -> nslcd -> nsswitch.conf -> openldap -> ldap.conf Can we remove nss_ldap or kill nslcd and make pam_ldap work with openldap? Please let me know if some information is not clear. Hi everybody, As you probably all kinda know, most (all?) openSUSE relevant projects are hosted on GitHub in openSUSE project[1]. But unfortunately, we still have plenty of old projects at gitorious[2] and some projects even have sourceforge page/google code page. If you are maintainer of some repository, please take a look and try to take down old obsolete repos. Admins[3] can help you! If you are still using gitorious (or anything else), please consider moving your project to be together with the rest of the openSUSE folks. Why should you care? Hello, I have a openqa/factory question:Perhaps for Bernhard. Can a test LAMP[1] be included in the openqa tests,to test the lamp software stack works with some software which uses all these components, see example see[2], The install output listed at[3] I have not tested the configuration settings yet as I have not been able to get apache2 part going yet.
